Entry Fees for Meat Categories $125.00

$300.00 Grand Prize and Trophy Awarded

1st Place in each Meat Category is $150.00 w/Trophy,

2nd Place in each Meat Category is $100.00 w/Trophy,

3rd Place in each meat category is $50.00 w/Trophy

Friday Night Events include: Open Category, Desserts & Margarita

Entry Fees for Friday Categories $10.00 each

50% Payback and Trophies will be awarded to 1st Place in Friday Night Events

Entry Form with Rules

  1. Entry Fee is $125 per team, Plus each team must provide (1) Whole cooked ready-to-serve beef brisket to the cook-off committee for selling to the public by 10:00am Saturday August 3rd 2013.
  2. Saturday Categories: Chicken Halves, Pork Ribs, and. Beef Brisket.
  3. Awards: Cash Prizes and Trophies will be offered in each meat category for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Places.
  4. Entry Fee for Friday Night OPEN Category Contest is $10.00, 50% Payback and Trophy for 1st Place.
  5. Entry Fee for Friday Night Dessert Contest is $10.00, 50% Payback and Trophy for 1st Place.
  6. Entry Fee for Friday Night Margarita Contest is $10.00, 50% Payback and Trophy for 1st Place.
  7. Pit spaces will be assigned as entry fees are received. Motor Homes or Camper spaces with electrical and water hookups are available for $10 a night, payable directly to Elk’s Lodge - 409-866-4318.
  8. Contestants will be selected on a first come basis, if limitations must be enforced.
  9. Check in time Friday, August 2nd 2013 after 10:00am
  10. Meat Inspection: At arrival meat will be inspected until upon request.
  11. Specialty Award: The top BBQ Team will receive Grand Prize award of $300 Cash Prize and a Trophy.
  12. Specialty Award: The top Golden Triangle Industrial Cooking Team will win bragging rights with a traveling trophy to be displayed at their business for 1 year and team trophies (up to 4) for their Team.
  13. Friday Judging Times will begin at:
  14. 7:00 PM OPEN Category
  15. 8:00 PM Dessert
  16. 9:00 PM Margarita
  17. Saturday Judging Times will begin at:
  18. 12:00 PM Chicken
  19. 1:00 PM Pork Ribs
  20. 2:00 PM Beef Brisket
  21. 3:00 PM Awards
  22. NO pre-cooking or pre-seasoning of meat is allowed.
  23. NO gas or electric cookers are allowed and NO dug pits.
  24. Fuel for cooking must be of wood or wood substance.
  25. Heat shields must be provided for cookers that are capable of damaging the contest area.
  26. Stable Spirit or Elk’s Lodge will NOT be responsible for accidents, theft or damage.
  27. The Chief Cook will be responsible for the conduct of his/her team.
  28. It is the responsibility of each team to see that the contest area is cleaned and policed during the contest and grease is disposed of properly.
  29. Cook-off contestants will observe all rules and regulations of the Stable Spirit BBQ Cook-off.
  30. All Alcohol must be purchased from the Elk’s Lodge. Do NOT openly display alcoholic beverages.
  31. Decisions of the Stable Spirit Cook-off Team and Judges are FINAL.
