General information
- RELAZZO decking systems from REHAU are made of WPC (Wood Polymer Composite)
and were designed specifically for outdoor use.
- With RELAZZO, REHAU offers a complete decking system in which all individual components in the system are coordinated with each other. This reduces installation time and results in a long-lasting end product that makes optimal use of the WPC material.
- RELAZZO naturo and finello are made of a balanced combination of wood fibres and polypropylene. The wood fibre content of min. 50% and max. 55% is derived from certifiably sustainable European forestry. We have the PEFC seal to prove it.
The wood fibres are embedded in a plastic matrix. In RELAZZO, this plastic matrix is comprised of at least 40% newly manufactured polypropylene.
Due to the environmental impact, PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is not used.
- RELAZZO WPC products are produced in Austria and are 100% recyclable.
- RELAZZO decking boards with the hollow chamber design feature a strength-optimised design. The closed exterior layer is resistant to exterior forces and impacts. The vertical stays ensure that forces are directly dissipated into the substructure.
The strength optimisation also has the advantage of easier handling and installation due to the lower weight of the boards.
- The physical properties have been tested and certified through continuous quality assurance measures and according to the quality specifications for WPC products of the Verband der Qualitätsgemeinschaft Holzwerkstoffe e.V. (Association of the German Woodworking Industry) and TÜV Süd Industrie Service GmbH.
- The visible surfaces of RELAZZO WPC decking are processed with special brushes. This exposes embedded wood fibres and optimises the feel and natural look of the product. The wood fibres on the brushed RELAZZO WPC decking surface undergo a natural change process in the first few weeks. During this process, which can last up to 5 months, exposure to sunlight produces a slight change in the wood fibres on the surface. After this phase, the decking permanently regains its original colouration. This process has no impact on the mechanical strength of the WPC decking.
- The brushing of both sides enables both surfaces to achieve anti-slip classification C (≥ 24°)under DIN 51097 and the sliding friction coefficient µ > 0.43° under DIN 51131.
- RELAZZO WPC decking from REHAU has been tested for resistance
to mould under DIN EN 60068-2-10 and
classified 0-1, i.e. “resistant”.
- The RELAZZO WPC decking boards from REHAU have been tested and certified
under EN 71-3.
- According to the specifications of TÜV Süd Industrie Service GmbH,
the decking boards have a breaking load of at least 3,600N upon delivery and
at least 2,000N following moisture/heat exposure. This has been tested and confirmed
through the TÜV-Süd certificate.
Moist heat storage must be carried out 2 times in succession as per the following stress test cycle:
Cycle 1: 48 hrs water immersion, 80°C
Cycle 2: 115 hrs heat exposure, 115°C
Cycle 3: 48 hrs water immersion, 80°C
Cycle 4: 115 hrs heat exposure, 115°C
Cycle 5: 48 hrs water immersion, 80°C
Cycle 6: 115 hrs heat exposure, 115°C
Cycle 7: 48 hrs water immersion, 80°C
Cycle 8: 115 hrs heat exposure, 115°C
- The decking boards demonstrate the following dimension changes (mean value in %) after 28 days
of water immersion under EN317. This has been tested and certified.
Length increase: ≤ 0.3%
Width increase: ≤ 0.8%
Thickness increase: ≤ 4%
Weight increase: ≤ 7%
- The RELAZZO decking system can be used in chlorine- and salt-containing environments. This is achieved by using a V4A stainless steel alloy in the installation components (≤3mm wall thickness). Compared to V2A, V4A stainless steel demonstrates increased resistance to corrosion in chlorine- and salt-containing environments. The aluminium alloy 6060, (step profile, edge strip, substructure), which is suitable for sea water, is used for all exposed aluminium components.
- The joint appearance of the installation components is not compromised by the colour adjustment. Moreover, the colouring and covering of reflective RELAZZO components prevents conspicuous light reflections.
Assembly notes
Use:
The WPC profile RELAZZO naturo/finello and the substructures were developed specifically
for use as decking surfaces. The products do not have building
authority approval and for this reason should not be used for self-supporting, structural purposes.
Local building regulations are to be observed accordingly.
Installation:
- Base and substructure:
The aluminium or WPC substructure is installed on base plates (e.g. concrete or stone slabs) in the gravel bed on pedestals (50-90 mm, max. total height 500mm with pedestal extenders) or on a
closed base (concrete surface or similar). The maximum
bearing distance (inner dimensions) of the aluminium substructure is 400mm for the WPC
substructure 300 mm. Unevenness in the
ground is compensated for using rubber base plates (EPDM) or adjustable pedestals.
Direct installation of the aluminium or WPC substructure on the ground
(e.g.: stone filling, earth, gravel bed, etc.) is not possible.
The exterior aluminium substructure profiles are attached to the base using a fastening system
for aluminium substructures (aluminium 6060, V2A).
The exterior WPC substructure profiles are attached with fixing brackets (V4A steel, black-coated) and
screws (V4A steel, black-coated) at the base (concrete blocks,
concrete slabs, etc.) in offsetting positions at maximum intervals of 1,000 mm.
If fastening to the base is not possible (e.g. flat roof), the WPC substructure profiles are fastened to each other with mounting brackets (V4A steel, black-coated) and screws (V4A, black-coated)
to form a peripheral frame. The aluminium substructures are fastened together to form a frame using a frame-building set for aluminium substructures (aluminium 6060, V2A).
The maximum bearing distance (axis-centre distance) for RELAZZO naturo/finello decking on the substructure is 420 mm.
The WPC decking can be used on either side (ribbed or brushed) and is fastened at least every 420 mm.
With the aluminium substructure, the decking is attached to the aluminium substructure using a quick-installation clip (glass fibre-reinforced plastic) and screwed to the outer edge of the board using an end bracket (4A steel, black-coated). With the quick-installation clip, at least every six metres along the width of the deck a centre bracket (4A steel, black-coated) must be screwed in. For special applications (board replacement, substructure deck angle <85° >95°), the flex clip (glass fibre-reinforced plastic) is used.
With the WPC substructure, the deck is screwed to the substructure using a centre clip (4A steel, black-coated) on the outer edge
of the board.
- Air gaps and ventilation
Adequate ventilation must be ensured. A gap of at least 20 mm must be maintained between RELAZZO decking and adjacent structures. When using joint-covering profiles, adequate ventilation must be ensured, and the gap between the ground and the board underside must be at least 100 mm. The hollow space must not be backfilled.
- Gradient:
RELAZZO WPC decking boards must be installed with a gradient of at least 1% (1 mm / rnm) in the lengthwise direction. This ensures drainage of surface water and promotes natural surface cleaning.

These boards feature a strength-optimised 7-chamber hollow profile design. Installation on the substructure is done using brackets or quick- installation clips.
The decking boards function as the top covering layer and fulfil the requirements of terrace decking set forth by VHI (Association of the German Woodworking Industry)
