The Junior League of Akron, Inc. announced details today about its ShowHouse 2011: The Kitchen Tour special event, A Taste of the Tour.

A Taste of the Tour will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event will provide a sampling of four selected tour homes, with an added bonus of chef prepared and served food tastings from some of the area’s top restaurants. Restaurants and sponsors participating in A Taste of the Tour include Bricco, Heavenly Bites, Keurig, Samira, Sammy’s in the Flats, Tiffany’s Bakery & Ice Cream, Vaccaro’s Trattoria, and West Side Bakery.

Attendees may also enter a raffle for two very special prizes, a 7-course wine dinner valued at $650 from Sammy’s in the Flats and a 7-course dinner in your home hosted by Old Friends Catering valued at $1,500.

The co-chairs of A Taste of the Tour, Jennie Highfield, Jennifer Towell and Janis Worley, are excited about what this event has to offer. “Not only do you have the chance to see the tour in advance, you will have a wonderful opportunity to sample delicious food from a variety of local restaurants,” explained Jennifer Towell. “And, if that isn’t enough, you’ll have the chance to meet many of the chefs in person.”

Tickets are $45 per person for Standard Level tickets and $85 per person for Patron Level tickets. Reservations are required. A Taste of the Tour tickets, maps and goodie bags must be picked up in advance and will be available between noon and 2:00 p.m. at the Junior League of Akron offices at 929 W. Market Street on Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15, 2011. For more information, visit the Junior League of Akron website at
