LEGAL NOTICE

TENATIVE BUDGET PRESENTATION,
PUBLIC HEARING,

VOTE ON THE 2017-2018 SCHOOL BUDGET,

AND ELECTION OF MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE CAMDEN CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT

NOTICE IS GIVEN that the Board of Education shall provide a presentation of the 2017-2018 Tentative budget at the Camden Central High School Tuthill Learning Commons on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, commencing at 7:00 p.m. for the purpose of discussing the tentative expenditure of District funds and the Budget therefore for the fiscal year 2017-2018 in accordance with the Education law.

NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the Board of Education shall conduct a Public Hearing for the inhabitants of the Camden Central School District, at the Camden Central High School Tuthill Learning Commons on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, commencing at 7:00 p.m. for the purpose of presenting the Budget therefore for the fiscal year 2017-2018 in accordance with the Education law.

NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for the ensuing year for school purposes may be obtained by any taxpayer at each school building in the District during the 21 days immediately preceding the Annual Meeting (Budget/Trustee Vote), except Saturday, Sunday or holidays, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that pursuant to Resolutions adopted by the Board of Education of the District, a regular meeting of qualified voters of said School District will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Camden Central High School Room 302 Lobby by voting machine between the hours of 12:00 noon and 9:00 p.m.. Such meeting shall be held for the purpose of voting upon the matters hereinafter set forth:

1.  To vote upon the Board adopted Budget for the 2017-2018 school year, which shall appear as Proposition No. 1 on the voting machines.

2. To vote on the election of Board of Education members as follows:

Elect three (3) members to the Board of Education of the Camden Central School District for “at-large” vacancies as follows:

A 3-year term ending June 30, 2020, presently held by Brandie Collins until June 30, 2017

A 3-year term ending June 30, 2020, presently held by Thomas Fanning until June 30, 2017

A 3-year term ending June 30, 2020, presently held by Brad Runfola until June 30, 2017

Positions are “at-large” positions; therefore the nominating petitions shall not describe any specific vacancy on the Board. The three candidates that receive the greatest number of votes will fill the 3 seats whose terms end June 30, 2020.

NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that petitions nominating candidates for the office of members of the Board of Education must be filed with the Clerk of the District no later than Monday, April 17, 2017, 5:00 p.m. Each petition must be directed to the Clerk of the District, signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters of the District, shall state the residence of each signer, and must state the name and residence of the candidate. Such nominating petitions are available from the District Clerk at the Clerk’s office at 51 Third Street, Camden.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that qualified voters may obtain applications for absentee ballots from the office of the Clerk of the School District. Completed applications for absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk of the School District no later than 5:00 p.m. prevailing time, on May 5, 2017, if the absentee ballot is to be mailed to the voter. Completed applications received after 5:00 p.m. on May 5, 2017, will require the voter to personally appear at the Office of the Clerk of the School District to receive an absentee ballot. A listing of all persons to whom an absentee ballot is issued will be available for inspection by any qualified voter during regular business hours in the Office of the Clerk of the School District through May 16, 2017.
