Topics for the English Language Oral Examination

– Entrance examination, July 2015 –

Note:

The evaluation of communication skills in English will be made based on a conversation between the candidates and the examiners.

First the candidates will be asked to introduce themselves (name, age, the place where they live, etc.). Then they will choose one of the topics below or they can suggest their own topics. If one of the topics below will be chosen, the candidate can speak about the suggested aspects or can decide upon other ways in which he/she wishes to approach the topic. The examiners will ask questions related to the chosen topics but they may ask questions related to other topics as well.

Suggested topics for conversation:

1.  A Day in My Life

2.  The Environment in which I Live

Ø  The village / town where I live

Ø  My family / My friends

Ø  Nature and people, etc.

3.  The Universe of Books

Ø  My reading preferences / My favourite book

4.  Professions / Jobs

Ø  Prestigious professions / jobs

Ø  Differences between present, past and future professions

Ø  What profession would you choose/have you chosen and why?

Ø  The ideal job, etc.

5.  A Journey in Time / in Space

Ø  Travelling experiences and plans

Ø  My favourite places

Ø  My favourite historical period, etc.

6.  Today’s Youth

Ø  The relationship between today’s teens and their parents

Ø  Young people today as compared to earlier times, etc.

7.  Free Time Activities

Ø  What I like / don’t like doing

Ø  My hobbies, etc.

8.  Fashion

Ø  What is today’s fashion (e.g. in clothing)?
