HOW DO I RESERVE A LAB OR THE LMC FOR A PROJECT WITH MY STUDENTS?

Sign up using the book/calendar provided in each location. Please be aware, to fairly accommodate all staff members, teachers may sign up ahead of time for only 5 full days in each location (LMC and 2 labs) per quarter; however, if the LMC or labs are not signed out at the beginning of any given week, a teacher may sign up at that time. We try to accommodate everyone, and avoid conflicts with multiple requests.

HOWDO I SEND MY STUDENTS TO THE LAB OR LMC FOR INDEPENDENT WORK DURING ENCORE?

If a lab or the LMC is open (listen to morning announcements or check your daily bulletin), students can come to work if they have a BLUE request pass– this includes before and after school as well. If it is DEAR time, they should not be working in the lab, and if they want to go to the LMC, they should have obtained an ORANGE request pass from the LMC in the morning. If you have a student that needs to take a make up test in the LMC, you may send him/her whether the LMC is closed or open. Please keep in mind, if one of these locations is closed, it is because a teacher has reserved it for a class project; encore or other students should not be interrupting this class. If these locations are open during encore, be aware that there are times that the labs/LMC are very busy, and may have to turn students away if we cannot accommodate all of them. Please see Megan, Sue or Cheryl if you have questions.

HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR AV EQUIPMENT?

You must complete a resource request online. If you have never done this, or are unsure how to complete the request, see Dianna Tomlinson in the LMC for assistance. For data projectors, cassette players, smart cart, CPS unit, CD players, TV/VCR/DVD's, etc.--sign up IN ADVANCE AND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Small equipment will be delivered to your classroom. For TVs, a slip will be put in your mailbox the night before, telling you where to pick up the equipment. Please remember to RETURN THE EQUIPMENT after you are done using it! A REMINDER: At NO TIME should students move TV/VCR units from room to room. If you are not able to move the unit yourself, call the LMC (ext. 250) for help.

WHAT DO I DO IF I AM HAVING TROUBLE WITH AV EQUIPMENT DURING CLASS?

Call the LMC (ext. 250) and ask for Dianna Tomlinson. Please follow directions on ALL EQUIPMENT

to avoid problems, or ask Dianna for help. We need to be careful so that everything lasts longer!

WHO CAN HELP ME WITH WEBPAGE PROBLEMS?

HOW CAN I GET SOME ADVICE ON INTEGRATING TECHNOLOGY INTO MY TEACHING?

HMS has a Building Technology Committee, and the District Technology Committee is in the process of implementing a number of new instructional technology tools. Kelly Zawodzinski and Kaci Nowadly are the BTC leaders. Please see one of these staff members, or any other BTC member with any questions or concerns, and they will be addressed by the appropriate committee. (Feel free to join the BTC, as well!)
