Play in two teams with two players in each

You will need:

¨ One set of ‘story opening cards’ between four

¨ Five counters of a single colour for each pair

How to play

¨ Lay the cards in a 3x3 grid like noughts and crosses

¨ Play the game like noughts and crosses

¨ Take turns to lay the counters on the cards

¨ ‘Say it when you lay it!’ When you lay your counters, say how the story starts (dialogue, setting or character)

¨ You could also point out the adverbials

¨ The first pair to get three in a straight line wins
