You are working on behalf of the British Retail Consortium to provide information for an article for a local newspaper on raising awareness of retail businesses in the area. To do this, you will need to research retail businesses in the local area, looking at sizes and subsectors. Your article must contain examples of real businesses.

Task 1- Structure and ownership of retail business

The British Consortium has asked you to write your article about how two different retail businesses operating in different sub-sectors measure their performance. This should cover how their ownership affects their performance indicators and why businesses have chosen their respective aims and objectives.

Task 2

Continuing your work for the British Rail Consortium, you will examine the relationship between development in retail business and the effect on the local community. You will be presenting your findings to representatives of the local retail business community. (These can be real members of the local community or peers and teachers taking on these roles.)

The British Rail Consortium has asked you to present to selected members of the local retail business community on the impact of retail developments in their local community. Evaluate the impact of two different proposed, under construction or completed retail developments in your local community

Using examples, evaluate at least two benefits and two issues of concern, as well as the impact on the local community, that arise from these developments. These may include factors such as environment, ethical and political issues that may affect the local community

Using examples, assess the benefits for the local community of the retail development. Look at factors such as increased job opportunities and regeneration of the local area.
