North Carolina Modernist Houses (NCMH)is a North Carolina 501C3 nonprofit educational archive committed to documenting, preserving, and promoting residential Modernist architecture. NCMH has been recognized for leadership in historic preservation with 12 local, state, and national awards, reviving huge interest in the state's legacy of Modernist architecture.

In addition to statewide coverage, NCMH maintains the Masters Gallery, the largest online digital archive of well-known mid-century Modernist houses and architects in America. Every Wright, Neutra, Schindler, Lautner, Gropius, Breuer, Rudolph, and more, with over 5,000 Modernist houses documented.

NCMH continually hosts popular Modernist house tours, movies, lectures, networking events, and trips, giving thousands of people access to the most exciting residential architecture, past and present. For passionate architecture fans, which are many, Modernist houses evoke a true love. These houses connect people to nature and the land through carefully designed spaces that are relaxing, compelling, and utterly addictive. For many, Modernist houses are livable sculptures.

NCMH’s Legal Defense Fund goes to bat for houses under threat of demolition, such asRaleigh’s world-famous Cherry/Gordon House.

NCMH’s Project BauHow supports rural NC high school drafting students, giving away over 300 CAD systems in the last three years.

NCMH’s George Matsumoto Prize, now is its 5th year, recognizes excellence in recent residential Modernist design.

NCMH’s Colossus Archivewill collect and share every major architecture magazine since 1930, providing an unequalled research resource for owners, schools, and scholars.
