The Past Tense Endings for REGULAR Verbs

In English: I played / I did play

Add the endings to the stem – ie. the infinitive minus the last two letters

-AR / -ER / -IR
Yo / é / í
Tú / aste / iste
Él / Ella / ó / ió
Nosotros / amos / imos
Vosotros / asteis / isteis
Ellos / Ellas / aron / ieron

TOMAR = to take

To form “You took”

TOMAR > tom > tu tomaste
