Sunset Safari Music Series – A Roaring Good Time

The Zoo will offer extended hours every Tuesday in July

Syracuse, NY (July 6, 2009) – The Sunset Safari music series is back for the summer 2009 season. The Rosamond Gifford Zoo will be open from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday July 7, 14, 21and 28. Along with exclusive extended access to all animals, the zoo will be offering live entertainment, food, drinks and fun for the whole family.

“This event is one way we are able to welcome visitors to the zoo in the evening hours,” says Janet Agostini, Executive Director of the Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo. “We hope that people will take advantage of the extra daylight and spend an evening at the zoo, enjoying the live music and, of course, our magnificent animals.”

The Sunset Safari music series live entertainment schedule is as follows:

July 7 – The Fab Five: a tribute band dedicated to one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed bands in the history of popular music: the Beatles.

July 14 – Lonesome Crow: a southern rock band, focusing on electric guitar and vocals with their blend of rock and roll, country music and blues.

July 21 – That 70’s Band: a classic rock band plays music from the ‘60s through the ‘80s at their high-energy, family-friendly shows.

July 28 – Dan Elliot & the Monterays: the longest running band in Central New York. Formed in 1962, this oldies band plays party music from the 1950’s all the way through the ‘80’s and are sure to be a hit with the whole family.

Along with the enjoyable music, a cash bar, light dinners and gourmet picnics for two or more will be offered by the zoo’s catering department. Menu selections range in price from $3 to $10 and must be pre-ordered by calling (315) 435-8511 x113. Additionally, the Jungle Café will be open.

The Rosamond Gifford Zoo at BurnetPark is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is focused on conserving, exhibiting and interpreting a living animal collection in order to promote public recreation, understanding of the relationships between animals and people, and action to sustain the environment we share.
