Summer Show, Saturday 24th June

Entries for the Summer Show should reach the Show Secretary, Toni Simpkins, by the evening of Thursday 22nd June. You can either deliver your entry forms to 5 Club Cottages, Riding Lane, telephone on 01732 833 824 or email . Late entries on Saturday morning will be taken up till 10a.m. except for the Informal Floral Arrangement Classes, as we need to know exactly how much space these require before we set up the hall on Friday evening. Please note that the Novice roses and sweet pea classes (16 to 21), the Floral Arrangements, Photography, Home Produce and the Children’s Classes are all Open Classes, so non-members can enter. If you have any friends and neighbours who are not members but who might like to have a go, please encourage them. If you need a list of the classes to pass on to anyone please contact Toni.

Spring Show

The Spring Show turned out to be very well supported. Entries were higher than in the last few years, and the day was very successful. Thanks to everyone who entered any of the classes – I am sure you enjoyed it, and will want to do it again.

Store

The store is open every Saturday between 10 a.m. and noon, except on show days. It will close for summer on July 22nd and reopen on September 16th. Unwanted serviceable garden equipment and surplus plants are always welcomed.

Outings

There are still spaces available for our visits to Chichester (June 21st), Guildford Cathedral and Loseley Park (July 10th) and RHS Hyde Hall (Aug 5th). Please contact me if you would like to book a place for any of these.The Hyde Hall trip coincides with their annual flower show so should be well worth seeing.

Membership

There are a few members who have not renewed their membership, which was due on January 1st. If subscriptions are not paid by the Summer Show, they will not receive any further correspondence or benefits. This year we have welcomed 16 new members to the Society and hope they will be active members.

2018 Spring Social Evening

Next year this will take place on April 16th, rather than in February, so we can enjoy the lighter evening and warmer weather.
