Summer 2017 Preparation Assignment 3

JMP installation; 2 points

The purpose of this assignment is to confirm that you have JMP installed correctly or you have located a computer that you will be using to complete JMP assignments where the program has been installed correctly. Once you have JMP loaded, this assignment should take you less than 15 minutes to complete.

This assignment is due in Dropbox by 4:00pm on Monday, June 26, 2017. You must be using a computer with JMP loaded to complete this assignment. AND this should be the computer that you plan to use for your assignments! Follow the steps listed below:

  1. Open the JMPConfirmation file(link provided an the assignment page were you accessed this document)
  2. From the Analyze Tab, select Fit Model
  3. In the dialogue box, from the column of variable names on the left select GPA and then click on Y (under Pick Role Variables); GPA will show up in the box to the right
  4. In the dialogue box, from the column of variable names on the left select Earned Hr. and then click on Add (below the Construct Model Effects); Earned Hr. will show up in the box to the right
  5. In the dialogue box, from the column of variable names on the left select Major and then click on Add; Major will appear in the box to the right
  6. In the drop down box next to Emphasis near the upper right, select Minimal Report
  7. Your dialogue box should look like the one below:
  8. Finally, click Run. You should see a new screen with lots of output.
  9. At the top of the output, you will see an “annotate” icon.
    Click on this icon and then drag to create a box to the right of the graph (and below the legend). Type your name in the box.
  10. From the File menu, select Print (like with any file); print the file to a pdf file, and save the file.
  11. Upload the pdf file to D2L
  12. In the comments section of the submission, indicate 1) if you used the Mac or Windows version of JMP and 2) if you created the output on your own computer, a university computer (if so, specify where this machine is), or some other machine (specify).
  13. Submit your assignment.
