The Antlers, downtown Colorado Springs

7am – Early Riser Special (coffee, pastries and entertainment)

7:30-8:30 am – breakfast and program

Step 1: Make a listof friends, family, colleagues and business associates who may be interested in supporting NAMI-CS in our mission to educate, support and empower individuals and families living with mental illness through our ALWAYS FREE education and support programs. Please OVER-INVITE! We suggest you invite a minimum of 20 people. We have plenty of room in case you have more than nine people who accept your invitation.

Step 2: Send an email or make a call

Email suggestion:

Dear friend,

I’d like to invite you to learn more about NAMI on Friday, May 6, at NAMI’s annual breakfast and fundraiser. I support NAMI because NAMI serves the one in four in our community who are affected by mental illness. They offer FREE classes, support groups and education programs. NAMI provides vital services to an underserved population in our city. The breakfast is free but is a fundraiser so there will be a gentle “ask” for donations at the end of the program.

This year’s breakfast will highlight NAMI’s newest programs for younger people. You’ll meet some of the dedicated volunteers who support these programs. You’ll also learn about NAMI’s increased focus on changing lifelong outcomes for those with mental illness – by supporting early education, identification and intervention. In El Paso County last year, youth suicides (under the age of 18) more than doubled from the previous year. NAMI wants to be on the forefront of reversing this alarming trend, and the breakfast will help provide the funds we need to reach as many young people as possible.

I hope you will join me on May 6. I look forward to your reply.

Phone call suggestion:

Hello. I’m calling to invite you to have breakfast with me on May 6 at the Antlers in downtown Colorado Springs. The breakfast is an opportunity to learn more about NAMI-CS (National Alliance on Mental Illness) andthe work they do with families and individuals who struggle with mental illness in Colorado Springs.

The breakfast is free and will take exactly one hour (from 7:30 to 8:30 am). During the program you’ll hear about NAMI’s newest programs for young people and meet some of the dedicated volunteers who support these programs.

This is a fundraiser and there will be a gentle “ask” for donations at the end, but there is no obligation or pressure. You will be given an envelope and you can decide if you want to donate privately.

You may have attended an event like this before, but if you haven’t, it’s a fun and pleasant way for NAMI to spread the word about its mission and what it does for the community.

I hope you will join me. Also, if there’s anyone else you’d like to bring, they are welcome. Just let me know and I‘ll sign them up.

If your guest expresses interest in serving as a table captain, please send his or her information to Lisa Hawthorne at .
