THE FESTIVAL’S REGULATIONS

The International Film Festival ”Autumn in Voronet”, the 37th edition,

will be held in the European town of Gura Humorului, Romania,

between 27 – 29 October, 2017.

The International Film Festival ” Autumn in Voronet”is first of all a competition, an event meant to promote documentary films, video productions and audio-visual communication culture.

The Festival’s aim is to foster the film schools’ creativity, authority and professionalism in the domain, as well as to encourage contacts among different generations of film makers and embolden young film producers.

THE FESTIVAL’S SECTIONS

The Festival’s programme contains three sections in the official competition:

  • Documentary film section –short and medium feature film
  • College production film section - short film (documentary, fiction, experimental film etc)
  • Tourist travel theme film section - short film

The Festival will include other events, outside the official competition,such aspreviewscreeningsoffeature lengthfilms, portraits of well-known personalities of Romanian cinematography, projections of patrimonial films from the national archive, a caravanto promoteRomanianfilm, workshops, exhibitions of visual arts, book launches, conferences, concerts, etc.

THE JURY OF THE FESTIVAL

  • The organizers will nominate thejury from well-known film art personalities (script writers, producers, critics, cinematographers, etc.) to preselect the film entries for the festival.
  • The organizers will nominate another jury from well-known film art personalities (script writers, producers, critics, cinematographers, etc.) to nominate the competition winners.
  • The jury is responsible of awarding, not awarding or redistributing the prizes.
  • The jury is responsible of deciding which films can be awarded prizes by sponsors, associations, mass-media, institutions, trading companies, private persons etc, in full agreement with said entities.
  • Participation in the festival implies acceptance of the conditions outlined above. In case of litigation, they will be settled in accordance with the Romanian law. The festival organizer reserves the right to invoke force as defined in Romanian law.

THE PRISES OF THE FESTIVAL

  • Documentary film section –short and medium feature film

  • College production film section - short film (documentary, fiction, experimental film etc)

- Prize for the best collegeproduction - 550€

- Prize for the best production - 220€

- Prize for the best pictures - 220€

  • Tourist travel theme film section - short film

- Prize for the best tourist travel theme film - 220€

GENERAL CONDITIONS:

  • The festival is open to all producers, film makers and cinematographers.For the college production film section, they do not have to be film school students; they can be enrolled in any college or university.
  • Festival submissions do not have to adhere to certain themes except for the those of the three sections of the competition.
  • Anyfilm production done after January, 1st, 2016 will be accepted into the festival.
  • Each participant can enroll 1 or 2 productions.
  • Romanian or English subtitling is required for foreign films, while the Romanian ones will be subtitled in English
  • The films are required to be sent as digital files with the following specifications: mov or mp4 format encoded with H.264, max. 20000 kbps constant bit rate, ideal resolution 1080p (1920 – 1080) and sound: AAC 48kHz/16bit.

  • By October16th, 2017, the producers/film makers will be informed by e-mail ortelephone about the results of the pre-selection.
  • In thefestival, the productions will be screenedindigitalformat.
  • Starting withOctober, 27th, 2017, the producers/film makers whose films were selected will be invited to the festival, having accommodation and all meals provided by the organizers. They will, however, have to pay for the transportationthemselves, should they choose to accept the invitation.
  • The above mentioned expenses cover one person per film selected in the competition.
  • The films enrolled in the festival will be part of the festival’s archive and will not be returned. The organizersare entitled to use them for promotional, didactic, educative and cultural purposes. The films cannot be used for commercial purposes.

WAYS TO ENROLL IN THE FESTIVAL

  • The participants must send an e-mail to ith the following items:

-Entry form with all the required information filled in.

-The films are required to be sent as digital files with the following specifications: mov or mp4 format encoded with H.264, max. 20000 kbps constant bit rate, ideal resolution 1080p (1920 – 1080) and sound: AAC 48kHz/16bit.

-A photo of the participant

-The participant’s CV

-The participant’s filmography

-The film synopsis

-1 or 2 representative stills from the film and 2 or 3 stillstaken while filming. The pictures will be used for the ”Making-off” exhibition.

  • The participants will authorize, free of charge,the use of the submitted media by the organizersin the making of the catalogue and the organizationof the ”Making-off” exhibition, as well as for promotional materials dedicated to the Festival in newspapers, radio, TV etc.
  • There is no enrollment or participation fee.
  • There is no entrance fee to any of the events of the International Film Festival ”Autumn in Voronet”.

ENROLLING AND TAKING PART IN THE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL ”AUTUMN IN VORONET” IMPLIES FULL ACCEPTANCE OF THE PRESENT FESTIVAL REGULATIONS.
