About the Awards:
The Publishing Next Industry Awards were instituted in 2014 to reward the talent, initiative, entrepreneurial zeal and untiring efforts of publishers – big, small, independent – that create books. Established under the aegis of the neutral platform of the Publishing Next Conference, the awards seek to recognize innovation and leadership in the book trade.
The Publishing Next Industry Awards 2016 will be presented in the following seven categories:
1. Publisher of the Year
2. Bookstore of the Year
3. Printed Book of the Year (English)
4. Printed Book of the Year (Indian Language)
5. Printed Children's Book of the Year
6. Digital Book of the Year
7. Book Cover of the Year
An applicant can apply for more than one category. The final selection of shortlisted applicants will be based solely on information furnished by the applicant. Applicants are requested to be as clear, concise and straight-to-the-point as possible.

Award announcement: 16 September 2016
Judging Procedure:
The Publishing Next Advisory Board will shortlist 5 applicants in each category. Thereafter, a Specialist Jury will judge the shortlisted entries to choose the winner. The Specialist Jury will comprise of experienced industry professionals, thought leaders and innovators, selected at the discretion of the Publishing Next Advisory Board.
The winners will be announced during the fifth edition of the Publishing Next Conference, scheduled to be held in Panaji, Goa on 15-17 September 2016. The decision of the Publishing Next Advisory Board as regards winners in each category will be final and binding.
Completing the application form:
Submissions can be made in the following ways:
a. You may submit an online application by visiting http://www.publishingnext.in/publishing-next-industry-awards/. The online applications must be completed in one sitting as they cannot be left incomplete and resumed later. Some applications require certain attachments to be added. Make sure you keep these attachments ready before you begin to fill the application. The total size of your upload cannot exceed 1 MB. In case of eBook files for the “Digital Book of the Year” award, this limit is 50MB.
b. You can also apply by filling in this application form and emailing it to us at . While emailing, the award category for which the entry is being submitted should be clearly marked in the subject line. In this case, you may include your attachments with the email. If you have more than 1 file to attach, zip them all up and upload the zip file. The total size of your attachment cannot exceed 1 MB. In case of larger files, you may upload the files to a service such as dropbox.com and send us a link with your email entry.
c. We also accept the completed application forms by post. Please ensure that your application reaches us before the communicated deadline. Applications reaching us later than the deadline date will not be considered.
If you are sending your application by post, please submit your attachments in CD / DVD.

Publishing Next organisers reserve the right to retain all materials that accompany or form part of an entry. No submissions will be returned to the applicants. Publishing Next will ensure that these materials will be retained safely.

Winning Trophy
Each winner will receive:
· The Publishing Next Industry Award trophy presented at the forthcoming Publishing Next Conference scheduled to be held at Panaji, Goa on 15-17 September 2016.
· A certificate of merit
· The right to use the Publishing Next Industry Award logo

Application Form – Digital Book of the Year Award
This award seeks to recognize the efforts of publishers to develop a book that pushes the boundaries of editorial, design and technical excellence within the domain of printed books, making use of available technology to create a book that enriches its genre.
Who should enter?
Publishing companies or self-published authors may apply for this award. There must be a separate entry for each title.
Entries must pertain only to books published after 1st May 2015, and must be submitted as non-DRM files. Each submission must be “as the product sells,” that is, the content of the entry must be the same as the book offered for sale to the public.
Please note that each publisher can submit only 3 (three) entries for this category.
Criteria:
· Choice of cover: Does the cover stand out? Does it appeal to the reader?
· Editorial excellence: Is it a “fresh” book or is it one that has been overdone? Do the grammar, style, voice employed in the book make you want to keep reading? Is the book apt for the digital medium?
· Appropriateness of technology and usability for the target group. This criteria relates to the use of technology and quality of design relative to the genre. Does the target group find it easy to navigate or interact with the ebook? Does the technology employed make the ebook cumbersome to read? Has an innovative approach been employed?
· Relevance of the book: Importance of the book in the present context, especially in the form of an ebook. Rationale behind the author/publisher to invest in the book
· Contribution of the book towards the enrichment of its genre: Is the book or any of its features worth emulating? Has a standard been set?

In addition to your application form, please ensure that a CD/DVD of this book is sent to the abovementioned postal address. Alternately, you may send us an email with a link to the ebook.
Postal entries must be dispatched before the last date of submission. Please submit the entire application. Partial submissions will not be considered.

To be eligible books must be published after 1st May 2015. Self-published books are eligible for submission. Submissions must be in epub, mobi or html formats. Please rename the file as filename.extension. For example, aliceinwonderland.epub.
Please submit one entry per title, whether or not that title is available in multiple formats. So, if you have submitted an entry for aliceinwonderland.epub, please do not submit another entry for the mobi version of that title.
