Classroom Rules and Expectations

CLASSROOM RULES: RESPECT EACH OTHER AND THEIR BELONGINGS &

FOLLOW THE RHMS SOAR EXPECTATIONS

* All devices will be stowed in backpacks during class.*

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

Paper, either in a spiral bound notebook or filler paper in your binder

Binder - for handouts and graded tests.

Scientific Calculator – any in the TI-30 series is highly recommended

PENCILS, PENCILS, PENCILS, sharpened, with erasers.

Small pencil sharpener with a case for shavings.

Pen for correcting homework.

At least one highlighter, any color

Graph paper

Compass, protractor, and straightedge

HOMEWORK: DAILY homework is graded on completeness, not accuracy.

Homework is due the following day at the beginning of each class.

Time is provided each day for corrections and questions about the homework.

In order to receive full credit, the work must be done in PENCIL, and include the correct heading. Solutions must be circled or highlighted

Credit for completed, on-time homework = 5 points

Late homework = 3 points

All late homework must be placed in the Homework Box the next day for credit.

BE PREPARED. Your math homework might be collected at any time. If the problem is messy, not done in pencil, or not circled or highlighted, you will not receive credit.

TESTS AND QUIZZES:

Expect a test every 4 to 5 weeks.

RE-TAKING A TEST:

Students may retake a test to improve their score. Only the highest grade is recorded. The highest grade given on a retake is 85%.

You must correct all missed problems from the first test to be eligible to re-take any test.

OTHER TESTS:

You will also have 3 District Diagnostic Tests (i-Ready) given throughout the year. TBD

IF YOU NEED EXTRA HELP:

I am in my classroom most days after school. Please come in for any extra help as soon as you have a question, or if you just want to get started on your homework.

GRADE SCALE:

Assessments – 80%

Homework – 20%

ABSENCES:

After returning from an absence, homework must be made up within two days and turned in for credit.
