SUBJECT: ECS-AGRONOMY-CALIBRATING MANURE SPREADERS
Purpose. To transmit the recent publication of a video titled, “Calibrating Manure Spreaders,” and a companion brochure titled, “Calibrating and Operating Manure Spreaders.”
Effective Date. Upon receipt.
General Information. One of the major goals of the Utah AFO/CAFO Strategy is to provide education and information regarding proper manure application. This long awaited video provides guidance on how to calibrate various types of manure application equipment including solid, slurry, and liquid application equipment.
Distribution and Use. Videos and brochures to be distributed as outlined in the distribution list. Please consider additional ways that the video can be shown to owners and operators of manure application equipment. The video can be shown at SCD meetings, grower meetings, or in individual settings as conservation planners develop and implement CNMP’s with individuals. A copy of the brochure should be provided as a part of the CNMP. Please make an effort to provide a copy of the brochure to operations that already have a CNMP developed.
Filing Instructions. The video is considered a part of Section I of the FOTG and should be filed with other Section I videos. An electronic copy of the brochure can be obtained at: http://extension.usu.edu/files/factsheets/AG-AWM-09-1.pdf.
