1.TopicandSupervision ofthe MAThesis
1.1.RegistrationoftheTopicandannouncementofitsSupervisor
Apriorconditionisyouradmissiontotheacademicstudies–yourfieldofstudyappearswithintheStudentDataProtocol(Studienblatt)as“registered”(gemeldet)andyoupossess,inthecaseofanindependentstudy,anoteofadmission.Youcanalsocheckyouradmissionstatusunder
Deadline:TheregistrationofyourtopichastobehandedintotheresponsibleSSCbeforestartingtheMAThesis.

Procedure:
1.CheckonlinewithintheU:SPACE(
2.Fillouttherequestfortopicandsupervision,signitandcollectthesignatureofyour thesis supervisor, the head of department and the director of studies (SPL28).
3.Confirmwithyoursignaturethatyouareawareoftherulesforgoodacademicpractice(FormSL/W1).
4.Handinalldocuments attheSSC.
2.Design oftheMAThesis
2.1.Title page
The title page needs to have a specific form. Download the template here. It is obligatory to use both English and German language.
2.2.AbstractoftheThesiswithintheAddendum
AllacademicpapershavetohaveanabstractofthepaperwithintheaddendumofthepaperinGerman.
3.ElectronicSubmission of the Thesis
3.1.Creation ofa PDF-Document
Youcan uploadonly one document as PDF,and it isnotpossibletouploadmultiplepartialdocuments.Pleasepay attentionthatyour documentincludesa correcttitle page aswell asanabstract!

3.2.Upload oftheThesis
Thesubmissioncan be madefromevery PCwithInternetaccess (log inwithpassword at Auser-friendly web-masksupportsthe student with theinput. Pleaseprintout and sign theUpload-Affirmation,which you getattheendof theelectronicsubmission, you willneed itwhen handingin your thesisattheSSC. After one week ask for the result of the plagiarism check at SSC. If yourthesishasbeenclearedofplagiarism, forward your thesistogether with the thesis review form to your supervisor and ask him for reviewing and grading. The thesis review form has to be signed by the reviewer.
Iftheprint-version of your thesis should contain alsomultimediaattachments(pictures,videos,software,etc.),pleasestatethiswhensubmittingyour abstract. Thereis also the possibility tolockyour thesis betweenoneand fiveyears, if youwant to(requestfor usageexclusionaccording to§86section2UG 2002).
4.Lockingofthe Thesisregardingitsusage byother Persons
Thepublicationforallpositivelyevaluatedthesesexistsiscompulsory.Youcanfilearequesttolockyourthesistotheusagebyotherpersonsforfiveyears(atmaximum),ifimportantlegaloreconomicinterestsareatstake(i.e.patents,useof sensitivedata). This requesthastobefiled atthelatestwhen uploadingyour thesis(see 3.2.)!

FurtherSteps:Youwillbeinformedabouttheapprovalofyourrequestviae-mail,inthecaseofa denialvia an officialnote.
5.Final Submissionof the Thesisand Final Examination bya Commission
Note:CheckonU:SPACEonline( academicdegrees,which havebeen verifiedthisway,willbementionedintheofficialnoteregardingthegrantingofanacademicdegree.Youcanfindtheopeninghoursoftheadmissionofficeat
5.1.Necessary documents tosubmit a thesis
Thesustainedadmissiontostudyandthepositivegraduationofallcompulsorysections,modulesandexamsarepriorconditions.Yourfieldofstudyappearsonthe“Studienblatt”(studentrecordsheet)as“angemeldet”(registered)andyoupossess,inthecaseofanindividualstudy,anoteofadmission.Youcanalsocheckyouradmissionstatus→ an academicpaper can only be submitted for a registered field of study.
Procedure:
Pleasehand in followingdocuments duringopeninghoursat theSSCat least 14 days before the final exam or defense:
•Twocopiesofyour thesis:
hardback;formatDIN A4;
double-sided print;
firstpageaccording to thestylesheet oftheSSC website (refer to 2.1)
last page: curriculumvitae withspecialconsideration of your academicdevelopment.Also: German abstract(seespecial rulesunder 2.1.),also within hardback

•Participation at survey Statistik Austria
•Submission form (pdf); doc
•Thesis review form, signed by the supervisor (reviewer) (refer to 3.2)
•Copy of “Studienblatt”(Current student record sheet)
•signed copy of CurriculumVitae
•If the Master defense takes place at University of Vienna, arrange date, location and examination committee at the office of the director of studies SPL28.Submit the application sheet (signed by the director of studies SPL28) to SSC.
• In case of requesttolockyourthesistotheusagebyotherpersons (refer to 4.) submit the Form:SL/W3.
A set of all required forms are handed out by the SSC (yellow folder).
6.Award ofthe AcademicDegreeandtheFinalCertificate
Aftertheexaminationbyacommission,anofficialnoteregardingtheawardofanacademicdegreeandafinalcertificatewillbeissuedwithinfourweeks.Youwillbeinformedaboutcompletion of thesedocumentsviae-mail bytheSSC.
Ifyouwanttoempowersomebodyelsetocollectyourdocuments,pleasebesuretoempowertheperson explicitly for thesigning of thewaiver tofile an appeal.
7.Academic Celebration
Whenyoucollectyourdocumentsregardingtheawardofanacademicdegree,youhavetheoptiontoregisterfortheacademiccelebrationofyourgraduation.Datesandmoreinformationareavailablefromthe eventmanagement (→
