WORSHIP LEADER:

MARK MCCONKEY

SPEAKER: JASON GASTON

DNow is a weekend full of worship, bible study, fun, and fellowship. You will not want to miss out on this highlight event of the winter!

Join us for DNow 2015 hosted at Castle Hills First Baptist Church. The cost is $25/person. We need your T-Shirt size by February 1.

I have challenged our church in recent sermons to explore the Lordship of Jesus Christ and to be intentional in seeking the Lord thru prayer, Bible study and worship.

The scripture also affirms that Jesus is the anchor for life’s storm. Storms are a part of life and the question is not when will they come but how we will respond to them. I like what the hymn, The Solid Rock, says “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus’ name. On Christ the solid Rock I stand; All other ground is sinking sand.” The anchor of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is paramount to enduring life’s storms.

The apostle Paul faced a life-threatening storm in Acts 27. His personal relationship with Jesus Christ resulted in an anchor of courage, protection, purpose and presence to endure the storm. Paul believed God and discovered the heart and character of God as he relaxed in complete confidence and trust.

The presence of God is the foundational, essential anchor for battling life’s storms. Why do we forget the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the importance of seeking after Him? Why do we claim to believe God, yet live as unbelievers? Why do we not constantly hold onto this anchor? The anchor of courage, protection, purpose, and presence will help you weather the storms of life. They are not a quick fix, but they can be developed and maintained through a vital relationship with Christ. I hope to see you in Sunday School and worship as we learn to anchor our lives in Christ.

Your Pastor,

Brother Donald

February is a fun month with emphases on past presidents, rodeo, and love. Be sure to express your love to your spouse, your family, and your church friends. I am glad that Parents Night Out is back in full swing! Workers are always needed, so let Sherri Ann know if you can help.

Please support our youth and the youth committee as they participate in a D-Now Weekend and provide us with a “Sweetheart” banquet.

Sunday School is so important to a thriving church. There are many who just come to church. How about considering giving Sunday School a try? It gives you a circle of friends who will care for you and keep up with you and your needs. It is important that, as Christians, we spend time in the Word and Sunday School was made for that.

Many thanks for your prayers, calls and gifts of food through Marguerite’s battle with cancer. We were pleased to get an “all clear” and are now going through four infusions of chemo. Thanks for your continued prayers as we experience this new chapter of our lives.

We are blessed to be a part of the Live Oak family!

Paul
