CELL PROJECT

Description of the Project:

Students have 3 options. The options are as follows:

1)Cell Model (3-D)

2)Cell City Analogy (Creative writing project)

3)Cell Video (Creative arts + Technology)

*The project will count as a TEST grade!*

*Due Date:______

Requirements:

1)Cell Model:

  1. The project must be 3-D. (No drawings or posters)
  2. Label your cell as either a plant or animal cell.
  3. Cell must include the following organelles: cell membrane, cell wall (plants), cytoplasm, smooth endoplasmic reticulum, chloroplast (plants), vacuole, nucleus, chromatin, ribosomes, lysosomes, nucleolus, rough endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, golgi bodies, and centrioles (animals).
  4. Organelles should be labeled.
  5. The labels should include the function of each organelle on the back.
  6. BONUS POINT OPTION (15 points): Construct a 3-D model of a prokaryotic cell. It must include the cell wall, cell membrane, cytoplasm, chromosomes, ribosomes, pili, and capsule.

2) Cell City Analogy:

Answer the questions on the sheet attached. Write a story including the organelles listed. Underline each organelle as you use it in the story. It must be at least 1 ½ pages to 2 pages long. Use proper grammar and spelling rules. Be creative!

3)Cell Video:

  1. Write a story, skit, or song that introduces each of the major parts of a eukaryotic cell and describes what each part does.
  2. Use your iPad or other forms of technology to create a video (YouTube, Vine, etc.) to share with your teacher and the class.
  3. Make sure that every organelle is covered in the video:

Must include the following organelles-cell membrane, cell wall (plants), cytoplasm, smooth endoplasmic reticulum, chloroplast (plants), vacuole, nucleus, chromatin, ribosomes, lysosomes, nucleolus, rough endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, golgi bodies, and centrioles (animals).
