The St. Louis Softball League will start its 2016 Fall Doubleheader Session on Friday, September 9, 2016. Several different categories (levels of play) will be offered Sunday afternoons and evenings, and Monday through Friday evenings (check the list at the top of the second page for the categories that are offered).
The session will consist of eight games. In a five or six team league, there will be four doubleheaders. In a four-team league, there will be three doubleheaders and then two random games played on the final day.
The starting times for the Sunday afternoon doubleheaders are 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. Sunday evening doubleheaders are 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. for the early games and 8:00 and 9:00 p.m. for the late games. Monday through Friday’s doubleheaders will start at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. for the early games and 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. for the late games.
All doubleheaders that are rained out during the scheduled session will be made up on the same night and field and in the order that they occurred after the last regularly scheduled games are played.
The St. Louis Softball League will use the ASA Rulebook to govern league play with the exception of a few in-house rules related to Coed play. Bases, game balls, scorebooks, ASA rulebooks (for new teams) and schedules will be provided by the league. They can be picked up Tuesday, September6 through Friday, September 9, 2016 at “The Lab” (the small building on the north side of the Greenhouse in Forest Park) between the hours of 3:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. First place teams will be given their choice of a team trophy or fifteen t-shirts. There will be NO playoffs!
The entry fee for the 2016 Fall session evening leagues (Sunday through Friday) is $335.00 for teams that play in Forest Park and are already registered with Metro ASA in 2016 and use the same identical roster as the one on file as of Friday, June 24, 2016. Teams that are not registered with Metro ASA in 2016 or teams that have added as few as one new player must pay $360.00 (the $25.00 difference goes to ASA as a new team’s registration). For teams that want to play at LyonPark and are registered, the entry fee is $300.00. For teams not registered, the entry fee is $325.00.
For teams wanting to join the Sunday afternoon doubleheader leagues on Aviation Field, SB#1, SB#2, SB#3 & SB#4, the entry fee is $280.00 for teams already registered and $305.00 for teams that are not registered.
To reserve a spot in a particular category on a particular evening, teams are asked to complete and sign the attached application and mail or deliver a non-refundable $100.00 check, money order, or cashier’s check made payable to the City of St. Louis – St. Louis Softball League, 5600 Clayton Avenue, St. Louis MO 63110, by August 15, 2016. The balance is due on or before5:00 p.m., August 22, 2016. Cash or credits cards are NOT accepted. There are NOrefunds. Leagues will be formed on a first come, first served basis!
All teams that play in Forest Parkshould be aware that coolers/containers, glass bottles, barbecue pits and people walking up with open alcoholic cans are not allowed on or near the fields. Teams that do not heed this warning will be given forfeits and their coaches/managers suspended. It is the coaches/manager’s responsibility to make sure their players, other coaches/managers and fans/spectators are aware of these rules. There is a concessions stand on Aviation Field that sells beer, soda, and different types of food. Teams that play at LyonPark cannot bring glass bottles!
