Student Project: Analysis of a Real-World Enterprise

Gotham Consulting Services has hired you to prepare a report that will be provided to the owners of a real-world enterprise. Your report can be about a publicly-traded company or a local business of your choosing. Your report, a written document, should address as many – if not all – of the components in the table below. In addition to the written report, you will create a PowerPoint (or equivalent) deck so that you can present your analysis. Suggested components may include, but are not limited to:

Publicly-traded company / Local business
·  Brief history of the enterprise.
·  Ownership and organization legal description.
·  Mission statement.
·  Identification of stakeholders.
·  Industry analysis.
·  Analysis of the marketing plan, including reference to several if not all of the “5 Ps” (price, product, placement, promotion, position) or some similar information.
·  Analysis of the income statement and balance sheet. Perform horizontal (3 – 5 years) and vertical analysis; ratio analysis. Report stock price (current and over time).
·  Comparison of the enterprise to national and international competitors, including number of countries in which firm operates.
·  SWOT analysis.
·  Human resource assessment: # of employees, employee satisfaction, turnover, compensation, benefits; CEO-to-worker pay ratio; measure of (top) executives’ compensation.
·  Expression of opinion of future prospects for the enterprise (in 1 year, 2 years, or 5 years).
·  Culminating question: if you are an investor looking to make an investment, would you invest in this company? Why or why not? If yes, over which time horizon would you invest: short, medium or long term? / ·  Brief history of the enterprise.

·  Human resource assessment: # of employees, employee satisfaction, turnover, compensation, benefits; owner-to-worker pay ratio; measure of owner or (top) executives’ compensation (if applicable).
·  Expression of opinion of future prospects for the enterprise (in 1 year, 2 years, or 5 years).
·  Culminating question: if you are an investor looking to make an investment, would you invest in this company? Why or why not? If yes, over which time horizon would you invest: short, medium or long term?
