Rainbow Rescues (Dog Rescue)
Description: Student intern position to assist in the operation of a Dog Rescue non-profit organization.
Organization: Rainbow Rescues Inc is a 501 (C) 3 non-profit Animal/Pet Rescue. They are registered
with the Department of Agriculture and are registered with the Massachusetts Attorney
General. The rescue consists of a group of loving individuals who have seen the need for
help in the animal community and the need for education for the general public about pet
training, socialization, vaccination and sterilization. www.rainbowrescues.org

Number of hours per week: Approximately 8-10 hrs/week (120-130 hours per semester, flexible), for a 3-credit internship (6-hour also available).
Academic Department: Open to all academic departments
Academic Credit: Upon approval by academic department/faculty member;
three (3) credits per semester (minimal wk. journal/report maintained).
Responsibilities: Will assist in administrative work as well as plan and implement fundraising events and ideas. Will help and provide support at special events and will assist in keeping databases up to date and will help streamline marketing material.
· Assist in mailings or e-mails for newsletters and planned events.
· Implements plans initiated by board of directors for fundraising events.
· May attend adoption events and fundraising events.
· Assist in writing press releases about Rescue events and copy for newsletter, Facebook, and website. Assist in developing and maintaining a monthly newsletter.
· Assist in preparing flyers, brochures, programs and other promotional material for functions.
· Assist in handling meet and greets and scheduling home visits and the appointments for the entire adoption process.
· Provide support for fundraising and administrative needs at the direction of the Director.
· Performs other duties and tasks as prescribed by Director.
Qualifications: Understanding of non-profit organizations and how they operate is helpful but not
required. Intern must be computer proficient in word processing/e-mailing. Person must
have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to prioritize and handle
multiple tasks. Person must be able to work independently as well as with the staff and/or
with volunteers; knowledge of fundraising - ability to brainstorm new funding ideas a plus.
The candidate is required to maintain a working area in a neat and orderly manner, comply
with all safety and health rules and perform other duties and tasks as directed by the supervisor.
