Principal’s Report / SSP
“I Can” statements are being used in classrooms in a move toward “thinking about your thinking”, communicating understanding, and knowing what students know and how they know it.
PD
Nov. 13thEvaluatiuon and Assessment day for teachers to work on report cards.
Nov. 24th PD in school. Teachers will work on Learning Targets, “I Can” statements, and student self-assessment.
Nov. 26thPD in the morning developing technology that may be put in place for future Parent/Teacher appoint booking.
The afternoon and evening was for Parent/Teacher interviews.
*DOE still regulates the number of PD each school has. The month of the Nov. happened to have multiples.
Gr.P-3 curriculum changes
Are reflecting data collected from the Education reviews 2 years ago as well as parental feedback.
Readathon
$3800.00 was rasied!
The student who raised the most money was Principal for a day.
The student who read the most received an E-Reader.
With the money, the school is very excited to be able to purchase 2 iPad minis for each P-2 classroom and 2 iPads for each 3-6 classroom.
Garden Pizza

There are lots of tomatoes, artichokes and potatoes as well as many volunteers for this great event.
Christmas Concert
Dec. 10th / Recommend reviewing School Boundary Policies at next meeting. Committee members have agreed to review before next meeting.
New Business / 2014-15 Community Report
re: Provincial and Board assessments.
We discussed how this data informs teaching practice.
Review of the Boundary Policy
HES boundaries does not have a late French immersion school option. Our families have to go out of area. Very few other schools have this problem. / Possible answer to Question 1:
Item 2.5 (re: equitable learning) in the policy may require a change re: French Immersion.
Also, look at 3.2.2
Ques. 2:
If boundaries were to changes, what would we need to do? Plenty of notice to community. An open discuccion in which people could discuss and ask questions with at least 2 public consultations.
Ques.3:
More clarification is needed.
