4-H Super Saturday - 2016

Workshop #1 - 9 to 10 a.m.

String Art (limit 6; fee is $3.00)

Join us to learn how to make your own string art masterpiece made from pins, string, and a board. Make a letter, a star, a heart, or your own creative design.

Presenter is Jarrod Pritchett with DeKalb Choreboys & Choregirls 4-H Club.

Marshmallow Shooter (limit 10; fee is $6.00)

Learn how to make your own marshmallow shooter. After everyone has made their own custom marshmallow shooter, the kids will have battles and competitions. Presenters are Tom and John Limberis with DeKalb Choreboys & Choregirls 4-H Club and Hunter Swanson with Genoa Prairie Gems 4-H Club.

Frosting Fun (limit 6; fee is $4.00)

Participants will learn to make a border and flowers for cakes and/or cookies. Each participant will take home a frosting bag and a couple of tips to practice at home. Presenters are Hope and Alea with Tilton Park Clovers 4-H Club.

Air-Zooka (limit 8; fee is $2.00)

Build a homemade version of an air zooka capable of blowing over a stack of plastic cups from 15 feet. Requiring no batteries or electricity it operates simply by pulling and releasing an elastic air launcher. Presenter is Scott Groezinger.

Leather Crafting (limit 5; fee is $3.50)

Participants will learn where leather comes from, and with leather tools they will have the option to create their own creative bookmarks, key chains and hair accessories. Presenter is McKenna Sell with Malta Mustangs 4-H Club.

Mini Aquarium (limit 5; fee is $3.50)

Participants will make their own mini aquarium using mason jars, colored rocks, plants and stickers. When done we will play a couple of games for a chance to win a fish! Presenters are Jessica Yaeger and Natalie Baert with Green Meadows 4-H Club.

Green Garden Friends (limit 10; fee is $3.00)

Transform plastic water bottles into cool garden art. Make fish, flowers, butterflies or bees all from recycled materials. Presenter is Christine Schilling with Shabbona Pioneers Cloverbud Club.

Super Heroes Galore (limit 10; fee is $5.00)
Using comic books and mod podge create your own magnets to add to your locker or refrigerator. Presenter is Dawn Cook with Malta Mustangs 4-H Club.

DIY Wall Art (limit 10; fee is $5.00)

All you need is a paintbrush, your fav colors of paint, a canvas and some painter’s tape to create these fabulous pieces of art. Channel your inner Picasso and attend this class and in no time you will be creating your own masterpiece. Presenter is Justene Jennings with Green Meadows 4-H Club.

Luck-O-The-Irish Shamrock Door Decoration (limit 8; fee is $2.00)

Participants will use fun holiday paper to create a unique St. Patrick’s Day door decoration with just a little bending, staples, and adhesive! Presenter is Amy Roberts-Clark.

Pipe Cleaner Creations (limit 8; fee is $3.00)

The possibilities are endless in this session! Create a bouquet of flowers or make your own critter!Learn how to make your own pipe cleaner critters including chicks, rabbits, chameleons,and butterflies. Turn these critters into pencil toppers or finger puppets. Presenters are Emily Groezinger and Lisa Paulsen

Octopus Buddy (limit 6; fee is $3.00)

Make your own octopus buddy made out of yarn, foam ball, googly eyes and ribbon to decorate as you wish. You can keep your buddy on your bedroom pillow, bed, or even take your buddy wherever you go. Presenter is Nicole Borjon.

Crazy Straw Bridge (limit 15; fee is $1.00)

Build the craziest designed bridge using only straws and paper clips. See who can create the longest bridge and whose can support the most weight. Presenter is Carson Groezinger with the DeKalb Choreboys & Choregirls 4-H Club.

Make Your Own Window Clings

(limit 8; fee is $3.00)

Participants will use fabric paint, patterns and basic kitchen supplies to create custom window cling decorations. Choose your own design and select your own colors for your unique flair. Presenter is Maddie Clark with Green Meadows 4-H Club.

Parachute Cord Projects (limit 6; fee is $4.00)

Participants will be making key fobs, dog collars and leash and bracelets made out of parachute cord. Presenter is Kaylie Sell with Malt Mustangs 4-H Club.

Slinging & Popping (limit 6; fee is $1.00)

Come out and bring your “dead-eye aim” and make an indoor slingshot and pompom popper. When we’re done we will have a fun shootout with pompoms and ping pong balls. Presenters are Trevor Yaeger and Brock Kahl with Green Meadows 4-H club.

Super Science Fun (limit 15; fee is $3.00)

Why does some soap float and others don’t, what is inside a baby diaper (a clean one of course) and what is elephant toothpaste? Come and explore the crazy world of science. Using everyday items investigate how and why things work the way they do. Presenter is Johnna Jennings.

Movie Madness (unlimited; free)

Sit back and relax in the theater while watching “Goosebumps”. This session will be over at 2:30.
