About Stonham

Stonham, part of Home, is committed to reducing the impact of homelessness and social disadvantage through its provision of specialist housing with care and support and related floating support and other non-housing support services designed to meet a wide range of people’s support needs. Stonham is committed to providing its services through individually tailored support plans for every client and within a framework of equal opportunities, diversity and respect

There are three elements of service and support offered by Stonham Byan:

  • Drop-in-support available for anyone requiring housing related advice or support face to face in community venues across Cornwall, please contact us for a monthly drop in schedule of venues and times.
  • The Gateway - Telephone or email advice for anyone requiring housing related support or information
  • Face to face - Support being provided for up to 6 weeks to clients at critical risk of losing their accommodation

Aim and Objective of Stonham Byan

The aim of the Service is to assist the Council in delivering the key outcomes identified in the Adult Care and Support Wellbeing, Early Intervention and Prevention Commissioning Strategy and to assist the Council in achieving the outcomes identified by the ‘No Second Night Out’ principles in Cornwall.

This will be achieved by ensuring that there are appropriate Services available to those people who require Support to live independently. These Support needs may arise because Persons are vulnerable due to age, physical disability, frailty or illness, learning disability, mental health, substance misuse, history of offending, domestic violence, abuse or neglect.

The purpose of this priority is to promote independence by:

  • Preventing tenancy breakdown and homelessness
  • Supporting and sustaining recovery from substance misuse
  • Support to regain and sustain mental wellbeing
  • Reducing crime and re-offending
  • Addressing anti-social behaviour
  • Increasing social inclusion
  • Reducing hospital admission and re-admission
  • Safeguarding vulnerable people.

The Gateway Information and Advice linewill be available 5 mornings each week for housing related advice and information.
