2. Describe three significant cost saving initiatives or best practices that you have planned and implemented to improve operational efficiency.

3. In your opinion, what makes an effective leader?

4. HHSD has 10 buildings and approximately 50 custodians. As Director of Operations, you have been assigned the overall responsibility for maintaining a safe and clean educational environment in each of these facilities. How would you plan, organize, and implement an effective management plan to accomplish this task. What are some of the critical elements of this plan?

5. On a scale from 1-5, five being the most competent and knowledgeable, how would you rate your competency in the following areas? Please speak to each of these areas to demonstrate your knowledge and competency.

Ø  Heating and cooling systems

Ø  Plumbing

Ø  Electrical

Ø  Grounds maintenance

Ø  Air quality

Ø  Phone systems, fire alarms, public address systems, and security systems

6. Identify the procedures you would follow to prevent mold and ensure proper air quality levels in our schools.

7. As stated earlier, HHSD has 10 buildings and 50 custodians. With staff spread across the district, what would you do ensure effective communication is occurring?

8. Situation: You receive a phone call from the Superintendent on a Saturday afternoon stating that the police have just contacted him to report vandalism to one of the elementary schools. Obscenities have been spray painted on the building and playground equipment has been damaged. What do you do?

9. How would you work to keep yourself and your staff up to date with innovations in your field?

10. One of the goals as Director Operations will be to improve our existing grounds maintenance program. Based on your experience and/or knowledge in this area, what are some of the key items you would look at when evaluating the current program and what suggestions might you make to improve the program?
