Steven B. Shechter

Biography

Steve earned a BA in Communications from The Ohio State University in 1971. He began his career as an account executive at Herberich Hall Harter in Akron in 1972. His initial training was at the Insurance Company of North America agents’ school in Philadelphia, subsequent training includes several CPCU parts as well as on-going seminars and courses. He has taught Insurance and Risk Management (Finance 640) at the University of Akron.

When Marsh and McLennan purchased Herberich Hall Harter in 1975, Steve joined the Commercial Property & Casualty Staff of Marsh and McLennan, where he was responsible for large commercial accounts as assigned by management. Steve became part owner of Evans Insurance Agency in 1981 when the former owner retired. His relevant job experience includes multi-state accounts involved in complex business transactions. Responsibilities included exposure analysis and in-depth risk and coverage consultation as well as coverage and program design.

Steve co-founded North American Safety and Preservation Associates in 2005.
