CONSULTING EXPERIENCE (1995-Present)
Conducts speeches, keynotes, presentations, workshops, demonstration teaching and general consulting for public schools and districts, private schools, and professional organizations across the country. Regular presenter at literacy conferences (IRA, NCTE, state reading affiliates) around the country, including her own annual “Reading is Thinking” conference each summer. Workshop and presentation topics include comprehension, active literacy, nonfiction reading, writing and research strategies, content area literacy, inquiry circles, collaboration and small group instruction, reading comprehension strategies across genres, research across the curriculum, inquiry based learning, reading and writing workshop andthe role of passion, wonder and thinking in schools.
