Self-Guided Social Media Training Manual

Throughout this course, your team will build a Self-Guided Social Media Training Manual for employees in an organization. This will be created as an important training component for an organizationlaunching a social learning platform to enhance professional development. The training manual will help employees understand the concept of social learning and the benefits of social media tools on behalf of professional development within an organization.

Note. The manual is designed to provide descriptive information on social media tools as opposed to providing a tactical, step-by-step approach to accessing each tool; for example, the manual should include a description of Facebook® and its applications for social learning as opposed to explaining how to set up a Facebook® account.

Week 2: Overview of Social Learning

Each team must choose the four most important social media toolsfor effective social learning within an organization, such as Twitter®, wikis, Facebook®, and so forth. A search for social media tools for educators will provide additional ideas.

Write a 350- to 700-word overview of social learning and thefour social media tools that are most important forcreating an effective social learning environment within an organization. Your team will focus on these tools in the Self-Guided Social Media Training Manual, due in Week 6.

Week 3: AnnotatedBibliography

Each team will prepare an annotated bibliography with at least 10 sources from peer-reviewed journals in preparation for the Self-Guided Social Media Training Manual, due in Week 6.

Create an annotated bibliography to organize your research for the manual.

  • Research peer-reviewed articles and studies from the last 10 years that focus on best practices in social learning as well as your team’s foursocial media tools for effective social learning in an organization.
  • Select and read between 10 and 15 sources for the bibliography.
  • Write a 100- to 150-word descriptive and critical annotation summarizing and interpreting each article, and describing the best practices in social learning along with effective applications of the social media tools your team selected, including each tool’s core value or benefit.

Format your annotated bibliographyconsistent with APA guidelines. See the Center for Writing Excellence for assistance with the format.

Week 5: Outline and Overview

Write an outline detailing the main elements of theSelf-Guided Social Media Training Manual, includingan overview of social learning and the four social media tools for effective social learning your team identified in Week 2. Include a 350- to 700-word overview of who the guide is designed for, its main objective, and areas to be discussed. Include the overview inthemanual.

Week 6: Self-Guided Social Media Training Manual and Presentation

Write a 3,150- to 3,500-word Self-GuidedSocial Media Training Manualdesigned as a resource that your team would present to employees to educate on the basics and benefits of social learning based on the four most important social media tools you selected in Week 2.

Include the overview

Include 10to 15sources from peer-reviewed journals from your annotated bibliography, submitted in Week 3, as well as additional research, if any.

Consider the checklistas your team writesthecomprehensive manual. Include enough information about the tools you selected and why these tools are important,so the employees using the manual understand the benefits of participating in social learning within the workplace.

Createa 9- to 12-slide Microsoft®PowerPoint® presentation to detail themanual. Upload the PowerPoint® to an online presentation site where it can be viewed by others in the class.

  • Include content from each criteria selected for your manual. Choose the content that is most relevant to support each criterion.
  • Includephotos, illustrations, graphs, diagrams, animations, videos, or audio as appropriate. Document the source of each media item you include.

Format yourreferences consistent with APA guidelines. Include citations in the speaker notes or in a separate reference list.
