-round robin of best practice for development opportunities/training, integration of all professional development offerings and activities
College reporting / Best PracticeMargo Keys CVTC / Posters-Retention – Words of retention, What students say. Gave smaller copies to new faculty….testimonial about what makes students stay in college.
Faculty mentoring program – converted from 1 on 1 to group mentoring, 6-7 vet. Faculty work with new faculty, discussion, networking, observation.
Great improvement. Mentors get release time from class, % based on # of mentees, SD matches mentor/mentees. Meet biweekly, Margo meets with mentors monthly. One group is using blackboard to share discussion and information. Mentor selection criteria are based excellent teaching. Leadership mentoring is also going.

New Faculty Seminar -Focusing on active learning, higher quality, less lecture. Nurturing a new style of faculty leadership. New Faculty Seminar – 2 x a semester.
Patrick Barlow MATC / Annual calendar & database product– Newsletter - Learning Academy – Dr. Rita Smilkstein – Brain Based Workshop.
Kettner,Jacqueline WWTC / Automation of certification program, needs analysis and offering workshops based on that data. New faculty institute one day in fall and another in January. Revamping new employee orientation.
NO performance evaluations at Western – Employees create an employee success plan. Written based on college goals, unit goals and individual’s needs.
Lois Stanley - MTC / Scheduling issue – training needs tough to identify. TGI Friday – Specific topics/themes identified, one month advance for invited audience.
Adjunct evening campuses – data gathering, 1 on 1 sessions. Needs analysis gathering.
Dan Pollo , Beth Hennes, Jim Begatka – NETC / Training goes when budgets are suffering. Partnership with Learning Support Services, to look at basic technology competencies and assessing the ROI of this training. Looking at ROI models, IC 3- Internet Core Communication Certification program. ASTD Workshop by Jack Phillips. Looking for 3% ROI, will meet and /or exceed. Includes a “Performance Contract” participants choose 3 outcomes, assessment “Analysis” completed by participants, calculating efficiency based on hourly rates, training costs, etc.
Jeannie Williams – BTC / Thursday’s NO Teach time, running courses in Teaching Center during this time. BTC Leadership Academy – designed by deans who went through WLDI. Runs for a year…developed as it goes along. Employees apply with references, all levels of employees. Action projects.
Collaborate with others, SWTC IWebfolio. Track Data. MATC – Learning Academy and Tech Academy. Southern Consortium to offer cert. courses.
Dee Warzyn – WCTC / Universal meeting time
Crystal reports for tracking certification status.WACTE also offered IC3 training.
Beth Dailey – Nicollet / Shifting to Learner Centered culture with faculty. Faculty teaching and learning seminar series. 3 weeks prior to semester – ready to teach and be successful in Nicollet. 2 hours a week. Seminars will flow through 2 years. 4 semesters. Faculty get release time to facilitate the seminar. Has been doing observations for new faculty.
Ann Hope – NCTC / Getting information to faculty – One stop shop – Blackboard course for PT faculty – NCTC Faculty Online, focus is on teaching and learning components.
Technology, new faculty orientation – lots of online and ITV – Use Brain Based Learning – Appendix E as activity, creating atmosphere in the virtual world, active learning online. Seeking to raise quality.
Andrea Schullo –WITC / Facilitating the Future 17th year! Formed with Learning Communities, Tech Prep – Critical Thinking Conference – Alfie Kohn.

Kristal Davenport - SWTC / AQIP Track Data, Learn and Leave – quick 10-15 minutes, raise awareness, 10:30 meeting hour, Lunch and Learn, etc.
E-Certification -discussion about statewide e-certification
Tina Rettler – described the E-Teach project to create a Certification Collaborative Project - Creating an online set of courses for the WTCS certification courses.
$125 per course, online registration
16 seats per class
Blackboard account created – Etech provide BB support.

Jeannie Williams - Electronic Portfolio development project – of the credentials of the facilitators. iWebfolio – Nuventive Give name and user ID to Jeannie to go into the IWeb Portfolio site.
Deb Walsh running #58 (first course). – positive learning with anecdotal data – sharing and learning. Also learning online learning – modeling. Insights – lack of computer skills. Justifies the need for facilitators with strong communication skills. Has not lowered standards, been flexible with time lines.

Brain Based Learning
-presentation by Deb Walsh – Got us standing, etc. Shared concept map (Mind Map) of experiences.
Focus on Past experiences vs. Future possibilities.
Looked at the “What”, “Conference Planning”, “Implementation”, “Leadership.”
Wants to hold it again. Asked for feedback.
Guest: Business Dean – Denine Rood
Gave testimony for the conference, specific examples – her son Sam.
Administrator’s role is to influence large number of instructors, modeling, set expectation, provide professional development experiences – retreat.
Described an activity – sharing the Student Satisfaction (Noel Levitz Survey) via, colorful information cards, individual brainstorming (provocative ideas – Insights) – large groups discussion of the insights, reported out and recorded themes.

Distance Learning Guidelines – Beth Dailey
WTCN & Etech collaborating to create guidelines to provide training for Distance Learning in many ways. Some colleges are interested in collaborating on an activity to help us decipher and plan for some kind of training.
Confirm fall 2006 meeting date and TC host/location
