Dear Parents,

Starting today, my classes will be participating in a Box Tops for Education contest! I do a lot of hands-on science and social studies activities, and with so many students it can get expensive. For the last few years I have been able to cover most of my expenses using this wonderful FREE program!

All you have to do is make sure to clip any Box Tops for Education rectangles that you find on any products you might already buy. I have a few photocopied on this paper you so know what they look like. You can find them on General Mills products…cereals, yogurt, crescent rolls, cake mixes, and many more. Keep your eyes open! Check your cupboards! Ask your neighbors or relatives to save them too! It will cost you nothing to clip them, but each box top is worth 10 cents in cash. It doesn’t seem like much, but when lots of kids bring them in the money adds up fast.

It is VERY important that you make sure the box tops are NOT expired. Please do not send expired ones because we cannot use them. Just tape them to the collection sheets (they are in the forms of “bucks”…so make sure you tape 10 of them to each “buck” so they are easy to count!) If the box tops are too large they can be taped over the words or taped to the back. Also, sometimes you will find “bonus” box tops or box top certificates. You can tape those to the back too. Please do not use staples!

For every Box Tops Buck your child turns in he/she will get a ticket to put into a drawing. Once each month I will draw out names in each class to win various prizes. Also, each class will have a chance to win prizes as a group. Homerooms who bring in at least 50 bucks will win an extra 15 minute recess, and homerooms who bring in 100 bucks will win another extra 15 minutes. If a homeroom brings in 150 bucks, they will earn the extra recesses AND a movie party. Also, the homeroom that brings in the MOST out of all my classes will get drinks and a snack to go along with their movie! J

I will be collecting the box tops all the way through April. Thank you so much for helping earn money for our school! J

Sincerely,

Mrs. Flora
