Start ISRAEL 2017

Start ISRAEL brings together innovative, early-stage start-up founders from around the globe to explore and experience Israel’s vibrant start-up ecosystem. This is a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to connect and benefit from interaction with prominent local tech leaders in a five-day immersive program, featuring interactive fireside chats and panels, specially designed how-to workshops, site visits at leading companies, and exclusive networking meet-ups with the city’s start-up community.

Why Israel?

Israel is recognized globally as the “Start-Up Nation,” a major hub for technology and innovation. Through its wealth of human capital, Israel has generated more start-up companies than most large industrial nations. In addition, Israel has attracted over twice as much venture capital investment per capita as the US, and 30 times more than all the members of the European Union combined.

START Israelis organized by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in partnership with leading local organizations such as Siftech, Intel, JVP and OurCrowd andthe Jerusalem Development Authority, the Ministry of Jerusalem Affairs and Heritage, and the Municipality of Jerusalem.

Program Agenda

Start ISRAEL brings together young start-up founders from around the world for a five-day dynamic experience. The program will help them gain momentum for their entrepreneurial journey and is a unique opportunity for the founders to engage with Israel`s leading entrepreneurs, investors and domain experts, learn from their successes, and experience firsthand the entrepreneurial and cultural vibe of the city.

The program will expose participants to many of the issues that relate to start-ups and successful tech companies, and will comprise high-end content and mentoring by the leading movers and shakers of the Israel innovation scene.

The workshops will include:

•What’s Next?: Disruptive technologies and trends that will shape the world

•How I Built It: Leading foundersshare their entrepreneurial journey

•The Other Side: Prominent investors outline their investment thesis strategy

•Think Different:Interactive workshops to enhance your creative mindset and strengthen your entrepreneurial skill sets

•Be Helpful:One-on-one feedback sessions and in-office experience with leading mentors

•Site Visits: Visits to leading companies and tours of the vibrant centers of the Jerusalem start-up ecosystem

Terms and Conditions

This competition is conducted byThe Embassy of Israel in Ankara and The Consulate General of Israel in Istanbul on behalf of Start JLM 2017.

Partners in the competition are TTGV andThe Innovation Joint programbyBogaziciUniversity.

1. Participation​​

•All persons who have reached the age of majority and reside in Turkey are entitled to participate.

•To participate in the competition, first the participation form must be completely filled in and then sent off to the email ith a maximum 60 seconds video describing the product and the reason they want to take part in the Start ISRAEL program in Israel.

•Participation is only possible for the following Start-ups:

1.Software-based (mobile, web,IoT)

2.Pre-seed / seed stage

3.Live product / service and traction

•Priority will be given to Start-ups which are founded by young entrepreneurs in the 23-35 agegroup.

•Priority will be given to Start-ups which are founded by women.

•The participation deadline is 1st October 2017.

•Each Start-up can only apply once.

•The jury is composed of representatives of the Embassy of Israel in Ankara, The Consulate General of Israel in Istanbul, TTGV, and The Innovation Joint programBogaziciUniversity.

2. Implementation and processing

•Semi-Finals: After the campaign period ends, the jury will choose 5-10 Start-ups to the Semi-Finals. The Start-ups will receive the announcement of their winning via an e-mailto be sent to the address provided by the participants. At the Semifinals event, the above mentioned Start-ups will pitch their product/service to the jury. Three Start-ups will be announced for the finals.

•Finals: Out of the 3 Start-ups, the jury will announce one as the winner.

•The dates for semi-finals and finals are to be determined.

•Participation in the event is a condition for winning.

•The organizers reserve the right to extend the campaign without indicating the reasons, to terminate it or to cancel it.

•The winner of the competition will participate in the Start ISRAEL program in Jerusalem on November 5-11, 2017. The program will host 30 CEOs from 30 countries around the world.

•Only CEOs of the winning start-ups is eligible to participate in the program.

•The expenses of the program will be paid by the organizers of Start ISRAEL.

•The participation in the program is obligatory.

3. Data protection notice

•The organizers reserve the rights to use parts or the whole video sent by the participants.

•Personal data will not be shared with a third party.

4. Other provisions

•The winner agrees to have his or her name published on the Embassy and the Consulate General of Israel in Turkey.

•The judges' decision is final. The prize is not transferable and will not be paid in cash.

•The Organizers reserve the right to exclude participants from the competition for violations against the conditions of participation, false statements, tampering or use of unauthorized means.

•Should one of the provisions of these conditions for participation be or become inoperative, this shall not affect the validity of the rest of the conditions for participation.
