Expectations & Policies: (All WHS student handbook rules & policies will be followed in this class.)

Classroom Goal: To create a community of life-long learners who support the emotional, physical, and mental growth of one another and understand the value of learning.

Class Rules:

  • Be on time—Make an effort to be prompt because in the real world lateness is not acceptable.
  • Be Prepared—Come in with all of your materials, an open mind, and be ready to engage your brain. Follow instructions (written and verbal).
  • be respectful—This is a universal rule in life and an essential survival skill for this class. Remember that other people are entitled to their opinions and lifestyles, and they should not be ridiculed for the way they live. Never dehumanizeanother human… it is not our job. Therefore, RESPECT your classmates, me, and - most important - yourself.
  • be COMPASSIONATE and aware—This means use your head. Be aware of your surroundings and of every choice that you make. Treat others how you would like to be treated, bottom line. As we share our writing and speeches it is my expectation that students feel comfortable to be themselves and share their personality & values.
  • KNOW YOURSELF AS A LEARNER—Track your learning and take responsibility for it. Figure out the strategies in class that help you excel as a learner and use those over and over again. Take pride in your work.

Period 6: Tuesday through Thursday, I will be available from 2:25 until 2:55 to help students. Please take advantage of this time!
