PART 1: JOB PROFILE
1 / MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Increase the profile, visibility and impact of the Wise Group through the delivery of high quality and influential marketing, communications and PR activity.
You will work with the leadership team to achieve the continuous development and implementation of a marketing and communicators strategy and strategically planned opportunities in print, media, events and online.
You will manage a small communications team to motivate and support staff to deliver high quality marketing and communication activities.

  • Develop and deliver creative marketing and communications strategies, plans and approaches for the Wise Group internally and externally

5 / EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS LEVEL
  • Educated to degree level or professional marketing qualification or equivalent experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Extensive experience of delivering strategic communications in a high pressured environment
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure
  • Ability to develop and build good relationships with colleagues, partners and other stakeholders
  • Experience of developing and delivering high-impact communications campaigns with demonstrable impact
  • Possess excellent news sense and politicalawareness
  • Ability to create PR techniques to maximise media opportunities
  • Ability to produce compelling and engaging copy for the web, marketing materials and the media
  • Good working knowledge of social media, PPC, e-campaigns and SEO
  • Experience of web content management systems,market research, and good knowledge of digital marketing best practice and design processes

PART 2: DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and deliver the Wise Group internal and external marketing and communications strategy, plans and approaches
  • Market and position the Wise Group to attract customers, influence funders, government, employers and other relevant stakeholders to increase impact and grow reputation
  • Develop and implement a public affairs strategy for influencing government and other relevant stakeholders
  • Design and develop creative communication and marketing products to support programme objectives inthethree core business areas of employability andskills, community justice and sustainability
  • Develop and implement a web and social media strategy to increase online presence in conjunction with the Head of IT
  • Maintain and continue to develop the Wise Group branding guidelines to ensure compliance
  • Contribute to funding proposals and reports to ensure creative marketing and communications are adopted
  • Implement an internal communications plan to increase staff awareness of activities.
Partnerships and Relationship Management
  • Act as the first point of contact for the leadership team for external and internal communications to ensure consistency of approach
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the media, key journalists and broadcasters to develop stories and case studies to promote the Wise Group
  • Maintain relationships with existing key stakeholders and develop new relationships
  • Represent the Wise Group at meetings, events and conferences to increase presence.
People Management
  • Deploy effective leadership skills and lead by example to maintain a constructive culture that focus on people development and a safe, secure, and healthy working environment
  • Ensure the communications team has role clarity,personal development documents are completed and comply with policies and procedures
  • Encourage staff learning and development,and support career development
  • Review, monitor and report on people management information.
Finance/Data
  • Manage,monitor and review the marketing, communications and public affairs budgetso that programme milestones, effective forecasting, efficiency and effectiveness and sustainability are achieved
  • Input to the creation of budgets
  • Analyse and report on performance management information in line with the performance management framework policy and guidelines
  • Record and maintain marketing, communications and public affairs data to monitor trends and make adjustments to plans as necessary
  • Assess and mitigate operational risks and update risk register
  • Gather and evaluate feedback and best practice to inform policy, service delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by the post.
