As fall is upon Missouri, time will fly by to spring graduation ceremonies. With this thought in mind, the Missouri Association of Fairs and Festivals (MAFF) is pleased to announce the availability of a $1,000 scholarship sponsored by Staats Awards, administered by the MAFF Past Presidents. The application must be post-marked or sent via email no later than November 27, 2013 – metered date stamp will not be accepted but actual cancellation imprint by Post Office – and received by December 2, 2013.

NEW FOR 2013: electronic versions of the application will be accepted with receipt due no later than 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27. Applicant MUST INCLUDE ALL REQUIRED INFORMATION AS EMAIL ATTACHMENTS. This includes the completed application with applicant, parent and fair/festival signatures, two-page essay, letters of recommendation from the member fair AND school official (two separate letters), as well as the one-page academic form required to be completed by the High School Principal or Counselor. Application and attachments must be received in PDF format with signatures required on the forms as noted in the application. If sending email, sealed envelope signature will be waived.

Attached will be a file containing the application in Word (saved down to a 2003-2007 version).

Please remember, it is a requirement the fair recommending the applicant is a current member of Missouri Association of Fairs & Festivals. SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The STAATS AWARDS & MISSOURI ASSOCIATION OF FAIRS & FESTIVALS PAST PRESIDENTSSCHOLARSHIP will be awarded for theninth consecutiveyear. The scholarshipwill be funded by Staats Awards, as announced by Mr. Andy Zinkle, General Manager of Staats,and will be administered by the M.A.F.F. Past Presidents Club. Staats Awards has been servicing the fair industry for over 100 years and wishes to be a part of preserving this heritage for future generations. Staats has committed to an annual gift of up to $1,000 per year to provide assistance to High School graduates continuing their education at the two- or four-year college level. This scholarship program is not to be confused with the M.A.F.F Public Speaking Contest Award earned by participation in that contest. This is an additional program.

Andy Zinkle will present the award at the annual MAFF convention held in January.

Eligibility Requirements:

1)Only students who will be a High School graduating senior in the spring of 2014are eligible.

2)Student must have a 2.5 grade point (based on 4.0 systems), and maintain a 2.5 grade point during their first semester of college, while carrying at least 12 credit hours.

3)Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the college the award winner attends.

4)Award must be claimed within 15 months of presentation.

5)Winning student must demonstrate their past support of school, community, and the fair or festival environment as shown on application.

6)A two-page essay composed by the applicantmust be submitted along with two letters of recommendation. Letters of recommendation should be from the sponsoring M.A.F.F. member fair board and/or from high school guidance counselor or principal. All letters of recommendation should be submitted in a sealed envelope with signature on seal,mailed with the scholarship application.

7)Information Sheet showing class rank, total credits, and test scores from SAT or ACT must be submitted in a sealed envelope with signature on seal, mailed with the scholarship application

8)Scholarship applications will be available through M.A.F.F. member fair boards, 4-H Youth Specialists, and Vocational Agriculture instructors.

9)Multiple applications may be submitted by member fairs.

10)Staats Awards and M.A.F.F. reserve the rights to modify these rules as necessary.

Applications should be typed in a 12 pt font, double spaced.
