SRIPERUMBUDUR THE TOWN OF BRIBE

A small village 40 kms on the outskirts of Chennai, Sriperumbudur is witnessing accelerated pace of Industrial growth. In fact, the demand for land has resulted in a record highest rate of land appreciation in India. On the 6-track Chennai-Bangalore super highway, it involves 40-50 minutes drive from Chennai to reach Sriperumbudur. Plots within the close vicinity of Chennai becoming rare and costly, MNCs prefer Sriperumbudur to set up industrial units.

The efforts taken by the State government in making Sriperumbudur a key industrial hub has finally paid off. Skilled manpower, fast improving infrastructure, overall development of the area, pro-active support as well as co-operation extended by the Tamil Nadu government for all new industrial investments has been attracting major industrial units across the world.

The Sriperumbudur SIPCOT industrial estate houses manufacturing units of leading companies like Flextronics, Motorola, Samsung, Dell, Ford, Hyundai, Hindustan Motors, Mitsubishi, BMW and the Nokia plant.

Three major ports at Chennai, Ennore and Tuticorin and 30 cargo flights every week support the manufacturing units in Sriperumbudur to have easy access to key markets in India and Asia. Other incentives apart from reduced time to market are low labor and logistics costs, lower inventory costs, quality workmanship and a responsive supply chain.

Sriperumbudur rose to prominence as the place where Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India was assassinated by a human bomb during a political meeting. Today you can find the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial at this spot in Sriperumbudur. The tallest Murugan statue in India can be found at the Vellakotai Murugan temple near Sriperumbudur. This is an important location for Vaishnavites as it is the birthplace of saint Ramanujar.

Though this small village at tamil nadu depicts the glory of India to the world’s MNC’s there are also many bad things about the sriperumbudur which we should taken into consideration.

The Sub-Registrar office here is perhaps the busiest one in the district.

Because of the towering land prices many Chennai people came to buy lands at sriperumbudur. An acre, which sold for a mere Rs 10,000 ten years ago, now sells for a whopping Rs 2 crore and more in an 8-10 km radius of this village.

So every day the minimum the land registration at registrar office was 100 in 2007 when the market was at full peak, because of this bribe played a big role during this period. All the employees at the registrar office manage to get Rs. 20,000- 30,000 per day. Black money was running out of control in this period. Sriperumbudur registrar office employees have become very rich because of bribe. If the income tax department checks this employees bank balances even now they can find huge amount of black money and its abnormal transactions. And this employees also have bought many lands, apartments, plots in and around sriperumbudur, Chennai, and in many other south districts. By doing this a huge amount of black money will come out.

Next government office at sriperumbudur which gets more bribe is the Panchayat Board. Just like registrar office employees this panchayat board employees also geting a huge amount as bribe to do their regular duty’s for the public. The main thing from which they earn more bribe is by giving approval to the lands and houses. The main beneficiary of this bribe was the former E.O. Mr. Rankan who was transfer to some other place because of so many complaints received from the public regarding this person.

And the next person who benefited more from the bribe was Ms. Selvamary Arulraj,Panchayat Board President, sriperumbudur. Ms. Selvamary with the E.O. Rankan got Rs. 25,000 to give approval for a house and Rs. 10,000 -15,000 for the land approval. Because of getting bribe like this with in very few years she have earned many crores of money.

The list of the properties of Ms. Selvamary after she was elected as the president for sriperumbudur panchayat:

  • She owns a house at Nehru Street where she is staying at present.
  • In Gandhi road, opposite to her office she have build a building and let it to Hotel Annalakshmi before 3 months.
  • In Gandhi road, opposite to sriperumbudur post office she have a building and let it to south Indian bank.
  • She has got a bribe of Rs.15,00000 for giving commercial approval to the building at Gandhi road which was let to Karur Vysya Bank.
  • In barathi nagar, 4th street she have house where her mother is staying now. There is also a airtel tower next to this building.
  • She and her family members own many plots at barathi nagar.
  • Next to JayaHospital she has build a building before 2 months before.
  • Recently she has bought 4 plots at ooty.
  • She own 3 lorry’s & 1 car
  • She own many crores of black money in the banks at sriperumbudur and at Chennai which came by getting bribe.

And the person who is behind her to do all kinds of illegal activities is non but her husband Mr. Arul raj. Arul raj work is to illegally take sand from pallar river and selling it. He was in jail many times for illegally taking sand at pallar river. By this illegal activity this person earned a huge amount of money.

Because of doing these illegal activities, he became very popular. So he joined in Congress and became a local political leader hear at sriperumbudur. This person gave Rs.500 per head to win in the elections. He has relationship with many rowdies in and around sriperumbudur.

Recently Mr. PPG kumaran’s marriage took place at poondamalai and Mr. Arul gifted him 2 kg of gold. PPG kumaran is a one of the local political party leader hear at sriperumbudur.

With in short period of time Mrs. Selvamary and her family has become very rich because of bribe………

So if the authorities take sever action against Mrs. Selvamary Arulraj and her family members it will be a lesson for others who get bribe.
