ROTARY CLUB OF SPRING VALLEY ANNOUNCES 2017/2018 OFFICERS
The Spring Valley Rotary Club recently installed new officers to lead the club for the 2017/2018 club year. The elected officers are Marty Wells, President; Wendy Fuess, Immediate Past President; Stevie Johnson, President-Elect; Wayne Magee, Vice President; Monica Geyer, Secretary and Theresa Todd, Treasurer. This year’s Rotary theme is Rotary: Making a Difference.
Spring Valley Rotarians participate in a number of community service projects including delivering Meals on Wheels weekly; sponsoring two Red Cross Blood Drives annually; conducting a monthly lunch buddies program called “Table Talkers” with a 5th grade class at Conder Elementary School; delivering dictionaries to third graders in Richland School District 2 through the Dictionary Project each fall and hosting a Rise Against Hunger international project. In addition, the club sponsors an Interact Club at Spring Valley High School and a Rotaract Club at the University of South Carolina. Through its annual pecan fundraiser the club provides $50,000 in support to local Columbia non-profits and provides scholarships to graduating high school seniors while providing another $30,000 to the Rotary Foundation for international projects.
Founded in 1978, the Rotary Club of Spring Valley has 110 members dedicated to service above self. Rotary is the world’s oldest service organization (founded in 1905) and is one of the largest global humanitarian service organizations.
