Medical Assistant

SUPERVISOR: Nurse Manager

HOURS: M-F 8-5, Some Sat. 9-12, Flexible (May include weekend and/or evening hours as needed)

CLASSIFICATION: Hourly/Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY: Working with a very diverse patient population, this position will provide relevant nursing support services in a primary care setting to patients with acute and chronic illnesses.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of a certified medical assistant program with current certification.
  • Direct experience in primary care preferred (but not required).
  • Demonstrated success in providing clinical care and nursing support with a solid knowledge base of medical practices and procedures within the primary care environment.
  • Demonstrated proper knowledge and use of medical devices and equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability and familiarity with tools, technology, and systems found within health care environments (such as Basic Computer Skills, Electronic Medical Records, Experience with Medent EMR a plus).
  • Professional and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to discern when to seek direction. Ability to develop collaborative working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Improve patient outcomes, and deliver quality care within practice areas as assigned.
  • Ensure all clinical care is delivered in a manner that meets or exceeds goals and expectations for clinical outcomes, quality assurance standards, state/local regulations, and patient satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current standards of practice and performs current nursing practice expectations within established guidelines.
  • Maintains current certification.
  • Ensure all actions, personal conduct, and communications represent the organization in a highly professional manner at all times.
  • Uphold and ensure compliance to all policies/procedures, mission, and organizational values in a highly professional manner at all times.
  • Provide direct patient care as assigned and qualified to perform.
  • Collect samples (such as blood, urine, or sputum) from patients and perform routine laboratory tests.
  • Complete all patient charting and ensure all patient records are current/complete with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time. Exert up to 50 lbs., pushing, pulling or lifting. Walking, climbing stairs required. Able to talk/hear communicate with others with or without reasonable accommodation.
