PE and Sports Grant 2016-17
The government has provided additional funding for 2016 to 2017 to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport – has been allocated to primary school headteachers.
This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.
Purpose of funding
Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but schools have been given the freedom to choose how they do this.
The Milford Academy has decided to use the money to:
- employ Sports coaches to work alongside staff to develop curriculum expertise and improve the quality of our P.E. provision.
- raise the profile of sport and healthy lifestyles across all age groups.
- widen participation in after-school provision particularly our vulnerable pupils.
- improve the gross-motor skills of identified younger children
- develop table-tennis as a specialism in school
- improve resources to support the development of the subject
The impact of the use of the grant will be reviewed at the end of April each year.
