SPECIMEN AND DEFINITION OF A SCHENGEN VISA

The Schengen visa is granted in the form of a sticker affixed on a passport, a travel document or another valid document which entitles the holder to cross the border.

Visa sticker contains the following information:

Valid for

"Schengen States" –visa entitles travelers, subject to the visa requirement, to enter the territories of all Member States.

"Schengen States - EE" - visa entitles travelers, subject to the visa requirement, to enter the territories of all Member States except Member States specified with alphanumeric code after minus. Visa valid for "Schengen States - EE"enables its holder to visit all Member States but Estonia.

"Slovenia" – visa entitles travelers, subject to the visa requirement, to enter Sloveniaonly.

Visa sticker specifies the date on which visa becomes valid and the date on which visa expires.

Type of Visa

C - short stay visa bears the identification code "C".

A - airport transit visa bears the identification code "A".

D - long term national visa bears the identification code "D".

Number of Entries

1 – single-entry visa allows one uninterrupted stay whose duration does not exceed the number of days indicated on the visa, 90 days being the maximum of days which may be granted.

2 – two-entry visa allows two stays whose duration does not exceed the number of days indicated on the visa, 90 days being the maximum of days which may be granted.

MULT – multiple-entry visa allows several stays on the territory of one or several Schengen States, provided that the total length of the visits does not exceed 90 days in 180 days from the date of first entry. The stay may be continuous or spread over several periods within the validity of the visa.

Duration of Stay

Visa sticker specifies how long its holder may remain in the Schengen Area within the date on which visa becomes valid and the date on which visa expires.

When a Member State issues a visa in representation of another Member States, the letter"R/Code of the represented Member State" is entered in the "Remarks" section, inaccordance with the Visa Code, Annex VII, point 9 (a).
