Course Description

Spanish 1 covers the basic of Communication (grammar and vocabulary), understanding of Cultures, ability to make Connections and Comparisons, and the ability to use newly acquired skills to communicate within different Communities. Descubre Textbook and Media edition integrates print and technology for a contemporary learning experience (Similar to those used by UAA and WBU). Students are welcomed into each lesson by engaging videos in the Fotonovela section. The Cultura segment provides Culturally accurate contexts that encourage communication. Lessons are structured and built around the color-coded sections of the textbook and e-book. Progressive communicative activities incorporated into every section of every lesson. Illustrations and photos support students' understanding of the text. Students are introduced to a systematic development of reading, writing, and listening skills through learning strategies and a process approach. Supersite, the online, interactive student support of the textbook, allows students to review each piece of lecture, video or exercise while working on daily assignments.
