“South Side High School – Beyond the Classroom”

South Side High School – Beyond the Classroom is a PASS Program interactive curriculum devoted to character education, anti-bullying, self-improvement, and educated decision-making.

Directions: On certain advisor meeting days, the topics and videos below will be used for our “Beyond the Classroom” discussions. Advisors may have their students watch videos or access the resources below as a large group or divide the class into smaller groups. The videos are short enough that one or two may be viewed and discussed during 1 advisor meeting. Use the following questions for discussion, and/or feel free to modify or add your own:

1. What part of this video did you find to be the most interesting? Why?

2. How does this video make you feel? Why?

3. What is the message/purpose of this video? Do you have any personal experiences you feel comfortable sharing that would add to or reinforce the message of the video?

Character Education:

Anti-bullying:

Inspirational and Motivational:

Don’t Go To Prison:

Don’t Mess With Drugs and Alcohol:

Another good way to facilitate advisor time for “Beyond the Classroom” discussions is to allow the students to find their own videos that are similar to the ones above. In fact, students, teachers, parents, and community members are all encouraged to add relevant topics and videos at any time. If anyone finds a particularly good video (we are especially looking for videos that are relatively short but contain a powerful or thought-provoking message or theme), please email the link to Mr. Paull to be added to the list.

Also feel free to use and discuss the following resources:
