Mrs. Mason’s Classroom Procedures

Handing in Assignments:
1) Pass papers to the table’s designated Paper Helper.
2) Paper helper ensures all papers are properly headed and facing the same direction.
3) Classroom Paper Helper will collect papers from each table.

Signal for Attention:
1) Mrs. Mason says “Class, Class.”
2) Students respond with “Yes, Yes,” establish eye contact with Mrs. Mason, maintain a level 0 volume, and wait for instruction.

Entering Classroom:
1) Line up in a single file line on the wall opposite of Mrs. Mason’s classroom.
2) Wait until permission is granted from Mrs. Mason to enter.
3) Immediately find your seat, and get started on copying the agenda and completing Bell Work while maintaining a level 0.

Borrowing Pencil/Paper:
1) Go directly to extra paper and/or pencil tray, and retrieved the needed supplies.

Tardy?:
1) Quickly and quietly go to your assigned seat.
2) Get out materials and begin working.
3) Speak to Mrs. Mason about the your excuse either after class or when there is a pause in instruction.

Moving Around the Room:
1) ALWAYS ask permission.
2) Hold TWO fingers up for Nurse, THREE fingers up for a restroom emergency, and FOUR fingers for a tissue.

Heading Papers:
1) Name, Class Period, Date, and Assignment Title in upper LEFT hand side of paper.
2) Class number, circled, in upper RIGHT corner.

End of Class Dismissal:
1) Wait for Mrs. Mason to give verbal permission to pack up belongings and exit classroom.

Sharpening Pencils During Class:
1) Raise pencil into the air.
2) Wait for permission to get up from Mrs. Mason.
3) Go directly to sharpener, sharpen pencil, and return to seat quickly and quietly.

Need a Drink:
1) Obtain drinks from the water fountain between classes.
2) Let Mrs. Mason know if there’s a special reason you would need a drink during class.

Leaving the Room during Class:
1) Obtain permission from Mrs. Mason.
2) Grab Hall Pass.
3) Move your magnet on the In/Out board to reflect your intended destination.

Reentering the Room during Class:
1) Enter the room quickly and quietly.
2) Move your magnet on In/Out board back to “In the Classroom” area.
3) Indicate the time you arrived back on the Hall Pass.
4) Return to your seat.

No Homework?:
1) Properly head a BLANK sheet of paper.
2) Provide a written explanation as to why you do not have your homework assignment completed.
3) Turn in explanation sheet with other homework sheets.

Phone/Intercom/Visitor Interruptions:
1) Immediately go to level 0 volume.
2) Continue working quietly.
3) Wait patiently for instruction to resume.

Lining up to Leave Class:
1) Line up in a single-file line on the right-hand side of the hallway.
2) Face forward and maintain a Level 0 volume.

Submission of Late Work:
1) Make sure paper(s) are have required heading.
2) Place work in wire basket on the corner of Mrs. Mason’s desk.

Finished Early?:
1) Work on any ELA unfinished/missing assignments.
2) Work on any other RCMS unfinished assignments.
3) Read your book.

Group Work:
1) Maintain a level 1 or 2 volume.
2) Stay on Task! Stay Focused!
3) Fulfill self-assigned group jobs.

Absent?:
1) Go to the “Absent” section of the bulletin board.
2) Look in your class period’s folder.
3) Obtain any material with your name on it, and seek assistance from a seat partner to determine if/where material needs to be glued into journal.
4) If needed, ask Mrs. Mason after class for additional instructions.

Retaking an Assessment:
1) Notify Mrs. Mason which Learning Target(s) you wish to retake.
2) Complete any missing homework assignments pertaining to the specific Learning Target(s).
3) Obtain and successfully complete Target Practice for the specific Learning Target.
4) Schedule a time to retake the assessment. (MUST be within a 2-week window of the original assessment.)

Blood is Spotted in the Classroom:
1) Immediately interrupt Mrs. Mason, and state “Blood.”
2) Listen and follow Mrs. Mason’s directions.

Going to be Sick?:
1) Go directly to the door to exit the room.
2) Grab garbage can and take it with you to the restroom.
3) Proceed to Nurse’s station, and ask Nurse to call Mrs. Mason upon arrival.

Need Help?:
1) Raise your hand into the air.
2) Wait patiently for Mrs. Mason to assist you, while CONTINUING to work to the best of your ability.

Participation in Class Discussions:
1) Raise your hand.
2) Wait to be called on.
3) Make sure your question/comment is RELEVANT to the topic being discussed.
