Sony PRS T1

Narrator:

This is a short video to demonstrate some of the features of the Sony PRS T1 reader for a reader with low vision

The Sony Readers don’t include any text-to-speech function, so unless you can see the screen you can’t really use it.

But what you can do is change the text of a book once you have it open. The screen that opens when the device is turned on contains some of the books that you have on the device and if I choose one to go into it, the text comes up in a very small size. But I can use the menu button to go into a menu where I can make certain changes to it.

For instance, if I go into the font button one of the things I can do is change the fonts that’s used to display my book. The original which is the one that is chosen by default is the fond that’s decided on by the publisher. But I much prefer a sans serif font such as Verdana, and as soon as I’ve made that change, you can see that it applies to my book.

Before I change the size of the text in my book I’m just going to change the orientation. I tapped the middle of the screen to come out of the menu and if I go back in to the menu, on the More button I can actually change the orientation so that it goes to landscape mode. This does make it a bit more strange getting to the menu button which is of course still in the same place but in landscape mode if I change the size of the font I can still get quite a lot of words on a single line of text in the book, and that can make it much easier to read.

I hope you found this very quick introduction to some of the features of the Sony PRS T1 eReader useful.

This video featured the Sony reader PRS T1 with firmware 1.0.0.5
