As you will know, the poppy appeal sold all kinds of memorabilia this year including bracelets, rulers and of course the traditional poppy!
The Year 2 children really enjoyed selling the memorabilia to the other classes and the other classes very much enjoyed buying it.
We raised a fantastic £ for the poppy appeal so thank you for your support.

A special well done and thank you to the children who represented Somercotes Infant and Nursery in the Endball competition at Alfreton Leisure Centre on 17th November. We entered two teams, one of which came joint 2nd and the other came 3rd.
Both teams played exceptionally well and worked together as a real team!
A special thank you to all the parents who came to support us and staff for their encouragement.

We have recently an increase in the number of headlice cases. Please make sure you check your child’s hair regularly and treat them if necessary. Please also ensure you child has their hair tied back for school.

We are in need of spare clothes for the children to change into if they get wet or have an accident at school. If you do have any spare or unwanted uniform at home and would like to donate it to school, they would be greatly appreciated. We are especially short of girls socks and tights and boys pants.
Also, Nursery are in need of any old or unused waterproof or wellies for outside play. Again, if you do have any spare at home and would like to donate it to school, they would be greatly appreciated. /
“Wearing a uniform is a badge of pride”
Please make sure your child has the correct uniform on in school (including appropriate school shoes) and has a full PE kit.
Uniform is available to buy in the school office if required.
Please also make sure your child’s uniform is clearly named just incase it get misplaced. /
Just a reminder that if you have a child in Year 2 moving to another school or a child starting in Reception in September 2017, you will need to apply for a place. The deadline for an application is Wednesday 15th January 2017. Please see our new website for further information and links to admissions.

We were delighted about the success of the Christmas fair. There were crafts, raffles, cakes and even a visit from the man himself!
We raised a massive £ which we can use to help fund resources, equipment and learning experiences for the children.
Thank you for your continued support and a special thank you to our new PTFA who did an amazing job at organising the fair.
If you are interested in joining the PTFA, please speak to Mr Williams for more information. /
We will be having a renewed focus on attendance in the new year.
We are striving for at least 96% attendance rate.
In order to encourage the children and raise awareness of attendance, we will be giving out weekly class awards along with half termly rewards for 100% attendance for individual children. /
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Thank you for your continued support this year and we look forward to working with you in the new year.
From all of the staff at Somercotes Infant and Nursery!
