PERSONAL INFORMATION

My name is Mrs. Julie Mitchell and I have been teaching social studies on this campus for a really long time.  I have taught grades 6, 7, and 8 and serve as Social Studies Department Chairperson. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science from Lee College, a Master of Arts in Education from Tusculum College, and a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from East Tennessee State University. Students and parents may also know my husband, Larry Mitchell, who formerly conducted 4-H programs in our county. “Our” son, Dustin, lives in Texas where he, his wife, and his daughterspend time riding and training cutting horses. I enjoy teaching 7th-grade social studies because there is so much to be learned by studying the past. Events occurring in today’s world can be better understood by investigating history. With this in mind, I want students to see history’s relevance and become as enthusiastic about it as I am! I hope this year will be the best ever for each student!
