SOCIAL CIRCLE 3, OGLETHORPE COUNTY 2: At Social Circle, the Redskins scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to post the game-winning runs against the Patriots in Region 8-2A. Ben Beasley led Oglethorpe County, which had five hits, with two hits and two RBIs. Austin Pruitt and Eli Mattox also recorded hits. The Patriots (6-5, 1-1) will host a region doubleheader against Elbert County starting at noon on Saturday.

OGLETHORPE COUNTY 9, COMMERCE 8 (six innings): At Lexington, eventual winning pitcher Dante Marnell drove in Eli Mattox with the game winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Patriots defeated the Tigers and improved to 6-4.

Mattox also hit a home run and had two RBIs. Will Bowman had two hits, including a home run, three runs and one RBI, Ben Beasley had one hit, one run and one RBI and Jake Grantham added two hits and one RBI for Oglethorpe County, which posted nine hits and scored four runs in its first at-bat. With 1/3 of an inning’s work, Marnell earned the pitching victory.

Tucker Maloch hit a home run for Commerce and also had another hit, two runs and two RBIs. Ty Davis had one hit, one run and one RBI and Evan Davis contributed a hit.

The Patriots were set to play a doubleheader Friday at Rabun County and they’ll play at 5:30p.m. Tuesday at Social Circle. The Tigers (6-6) were set to play a home-and-home series with Banks County on Friday (at Commerce) and Saturday (at Homer).

OGLETHORPE COUNTY 10, PUTNAM COUNTY 3: At Lexington, the Patriots scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, won their second game in a row and improved to 5-4.

Jake Grantham won the game in relief with one hit, one run, one walk and one RBI in two innings. Austin Pruitt was the starter and worked five innings, giving up four hits, two runs and two walks to go with seven strikeouts.

Oglethorpe County recorded eight hits and was led by Ben Beasley (three hits, one run, two RBIs), Grantham (a home run, one run, two RBIs) and Kolbe Hubbard (two hits, one run, one RBI).

The Patriots play a doubleheader on Friday at Rabun County.

OGLETHORPE COUNTY 16, LINCOLN COUNTY 4 (five innings): At Lincolnton, the Patriots had 12 hits and limited the Red Devils to five hits as they evened their record at 4-4.

Eli Mattox (3-0) got the win on the mound, pitching three innings with one hit, three walks and three strikeouts. Caleb Smith pitched two innings and had four hits, four runs and two walks.

Will Bowman led the offense with two hits (including a HR and a double), four runs and five RBIs. Austin Pruitt added two hits, two runs and one RBI, Mattox had two hits (including a double), three runs and one RBI and Ben Beasley had one hit (a double), two runs and two RBIs.

Oglethorpe County was set to open Region 8-2A play at 5 p.m. Friday at Rabun County.

OGLETHORPE COUNTY SWEPT:At Lexington, the Patriots fell to 3-4 on the season with a doubleheader loss to Georgia Military College. Oglethorpe County lost the opener 3-2 and the nightcap 16-3 in five innings.

In the first game, the Patriots were led at the plate by Eli Mattox (two hits, one run, one RBI) and Luke McElroy (one hit, one run, one RBI).

In the second game, Will Bowman had one hit, one run and two RBIs.

Oglethorpe County was set to play Tuesday at Lincoln County and will play at 5 p.m. Friday at Rabun County.

OGLETHORPE COUNTY 10, GLASCOCK COUNTY 1:At Lexington, the Patriots scored 10 runs on only five hits and improved to 3-2.

Ben Beasley had two hits, two runs and an RBI to lead Oglethorpe County. Luke McElroy had one hit, one run and two RBIs, Austin Pruitt had one hit and three runs and Jake Cassidy had one hit and one RBI.

Eli Mattox (2-0) earned the pitching victory allowing two hits and four walks in four innings. Hayden Utley and Caleb Smith both pitched no-hit relief innings with two strikeouts each.

The Patriots will play a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. Saturday against Georgia Military College.

OGLETHORPE COUNTY 11, CLARKE CENTRAL 3:At Weathersby Field, the Patriots exploded for 15 hits and scored six runs in their first two at-bats to even their record at 2-2.

Austin Pruitt led Oglethorpe County with four hits, four runs and one stolen base. He was followed by Hayden Utley (three hits, three runs, two RBIs), Eli Mattox (two hits, one run, two RBIs), Will Bowman (two hits, two runs, two stolen bases) and Ben Beasley (two hits, two runs, one RBI).

Beasley was the winning pitcher, with three hits, three runs and three strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings. Jake Grantham cleaned up with 3 2/3 innings, with two hits and one strikeout.

Clarke Central, which posted eight hits, was led by Riley Smith (one hit, one RBI) and Dylan Rodriguez (one hit, two runs).

The Patriots will host Glascock County at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. The Gladiators (1-2) were set to host Banks County on Wednesday and will play at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Academy.

ATHENS ACADEMY 5, OGLETHORPE COUNTY 4 (eight innings):At Athens Academy, the Spartans scored one run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game and scored again in the eighth inning to win their second game of the season.

Charlie King earned the pitching victory, allowing no hits and one walk to go with six strikeouts in four innings of relief. Avi Patel was the starter and gave up four hits, four runs and two walks to go with four strikeouts.

The Spartans had nine hits and were led by Charlie Kahlstorf (three hits, one RBI, one run), Palmer Bush (two hits, one RBI), Jack Thomas (one hit, one RBI) and Patel (one hit, two runs).

For Oglethorpe County, Eli Mattox had two hits and two runs, Hayden Utley had one hit, two walks and one run, Luke McElroy had two sacrifices and two RBIs and Will Bowman added a double.

The Patriots used four pitchers, with Kolbe Hubbard sustaining the loss, pitching 2/3 of an inning with three walks and one run. Utley was the starter and went three innings with four hits, one run and two strikeouts. Austin Pruitt pitched three relief innings with two hits, two runs and four strikeouts and Caleb Smith pitched one inning with one hit, one walk, one strikeout and one run.

Athens Academy (2-0) will host Rabun County at 5:30 p.m. Monday. Oglethorpe County (1-2) will play at 5:55 p.m. Monday at Clarke Central.

COMMERCE 12, OGLETHORPE COUNTY 6:At Commerce, the Tigers rapped out 10 hits – including three hits apiece from Colby Rogers and Ty Davis – as they defeated the Patriots and won their season opener.

Both Rogers and Davis had three hits, three runs and one RBI each. Evan Davis had one hit and four RBIs and Chase Bridge added one hit and one RBI.

Nate Ray was the winning pitcher, working 2 2/3 innings in relief with four hits, two runs and two strikeouts.

Will Bowman had two hits, one run and one RBI for Oglethorpe County and Luke McElroy had one hit, one run and two RBIs. The Patriots recorded nine hits against four Commerce pitchers.

The Tigers will host Union County for a doubleheader starting at noon on Saturday.

The Patriots will travel to Athens Academy on Thursday.

OGLETHORPE COUNTY 6, LINCOLN COUNTY 1:At Lexington, three Oglethorpe County pitchers combined for a three-hitter as the Patriots won their season opener.

Eli Mattox pitched four innings and was credited with the win, allowing two hits and two walks to go with four strikeouts. Jake Grantham worked two innings with two walks, three strikeouts and one run, and Austin Pruitt pitched one hitless inning, with one walk and two strikeouts.

Oglethorpe County recorded four hits, with Will Bowman picking up three hits with one run and two RBIs. Pruitt added the other hit, Hayden Utley had a walk and two runs and Jake Cassidy walked three times and scored two runs.

The Patriots were set to play at Commerce on Tuesday and will play Thursday at Athens Academy.
