The 2018 Annual Dinner Weekend will be held in the Slieve Russell Hotel which is situated close to the small village of Ballyconnell - the Commodore and Northern Region Members look forward to welcoming you to Co. Cavan.

The hotel weekend rate (two nights B&B) is €180 per person sharing which includes the New Members’ reception and buffet dinner on Friday evening. Please note that for anyone not staying in the hotel there is a separate booking form for this event.

All the accommodation bookings should be made directly with the hotel by the 12h February. Rooms will not be held after this date and early booking is recommended. The hotel will accept telephone bookings and a form is attached for those wishing to book by post

The main dinner will be held on Saturday evening and booking forms together with payment for the dinner should be returned to me.

Five activities have been arranged for Saturday 3rd March:

  1. Crom Castle - A visit to the seat of Lord Erne at Crom Castle. This event is limited to 40 persons.
  2. Cavan Burren Walk - An 8 km. walk along the Boardwalk.
  3. Marble Arch Caves - A visit to Marble Arch Caves.
  4. Walking Tour of Enniskillen – A guided walking tour of the city
  5. Golf. - Five four balls have been arranged with the golf club.

Note that for the Cavan Burren walk you will need to use your own transport, coach transport will be provided for the rest of the events. Please gather in reception at the times shown on the weekend programme.

Please make all cheques for the excursions, gala dinner and new members buffet (if not staying in the hotel) payable to the Irish Cruising Club.

For those choosing to pay by bank transfer please ensure that you return the payment summary form stating the payment reference – ‘Annual Dinner 2018’.

Activity 1: Visit to Crom Castle

Regretfully this is strictly limited to 40 people as the tour numbers and the cruiser capacity are limited – If the event is oversubscribed those who can not be accommodated will be offered an alternative activity or given a full refund!

0930hrs - A coach will depart from the hotel and take participants to board the ‘Share Inishcruiser’ and make passage to Crom castle

Lord Erne will conduct two personal tours of the castle – 20 per group

Cost: €40/£36 per person to include return boat trip, coach transfers and light soup and sandwich lunch at the Share Centre – 1430hrs Return coach to hotel

Activity 2: Cavan Burren Boardwalk

0930hrs - Participants meet in the hotel reception where Oliver Lynas will give details of the walk and directions to the start point using their own/shared transport.

A member of the Fermanagh Ramblers will guide them along the route.

Proper clothing and footwear to suit all elements should be worn and it is advisable to be self-sufficient and bring water, snacks etc.

It is possible that a pub stop will happen on the way back to the hotel!

Activity 3: Marble Arch Caves

1030hrs - A coach will collect participants from the hotel and proceed to Marble Arch caves. If water levels are high there is always a possibility that we may have to cancel this event.

Coach will collect at 1430hrs and return to the hotel

Activity 4: Walking Tour of Enniskillen (about 2-2.5 hours)

A coach will depart from the hotel at 1030hrs and will take us to Portora Royal School for an introduction to Eniskillen by our tour Guide - Bryan Gallagher, a retired school principal, broadcaster and storyteller.

We will then have a guided walking tour of the city for about an hour ending in the Butter market where tables will reserved for lunch (lunch not included).

The coach will return to collect us at about 1500hrs and return to the hotel.

Activity 5: Golf

Six starting times have been booked with the Slieve Russell Golf Club with the main prize being the ICC Perpetual Cup – if it anyone can extract it from the clutches of Beverly Killen!
